Negatives about the Tempo Next%? Would make sense. Most reviewers online didn’t rate them highly.

Endorphin Speed is one of the most universally liked shoes available right now. I have a pair and love them and I’ve run in a lot - Asics, Nike, New Balance, Reebok, Brooks, and Hoka.

The Endorphin will be a little more accommodating in the toe box, but still a snug/fast feeling fit. Most comfortable upper I’ve put my foot in. It runs well at all paces too - can cruise at 9:30 or strides at 7:00 and lower no problem.

It may be the most universally well received shoe of all time…. And deservedly so IMO.

Any distinct differences between the Speed and Speed 2? Looking to snag a new pair & going with one of these after all the reviews

I haven’t tried the v2, but according to all the reviews the only change is in the upper, while midsole is exactly the same. Some reviewers say the new upper has a slightly better heel cup/collar, and helps with lockdown. Every review I’ve seen also says v1 at a discount is a better value than v2.

I had zero problems with lockdown or slippage with the v1, so I haven’t even considered trying out v2. I did, however, grab an additional pair of v1 on clearance.

You guys seen the saucony pro plus? Only change is the upper, it's a little lighter and 50 more bones. I love Saucony, but it looks like they're taking a page out of the Nike playbook and trying to sneak a sunrise past a rooster here. Hard no.

Edit: I'll probably pick some up after they get discounted in a couple months.

Looking at either getting the Speed v1 or Pro v1. Probably using this for faster-paced training. They seem very similar--which should I go with?

Depends on what you like. The speed is more flexable, softer, more forgiving, but heavier. The pro is firmer, has a more rocker shape, not flexible, and lighter.

I get quicker turnover and more energy return from the pro so that's my preference. Either can be worn for every speed IMO.

I currently run in Brooks Anthem 2s.

I'm considering sticking with Broooks and looking at their "Levitate 5" or "Levitate StealthFit 5," which are "springy" rather than "cushiony." Does any have any experience wiht these shoes?

Also, I've never run in shoes considered "springy." Have some of y'all transitioned to springy shoes and found that you do not like them?

IMO the speed can handle slower paces better than the pro, as the pro will feel too firm.

For someone that’s fast (or heavy), the pro will probably be preferable. The plate in the pro is extremely rigid and it takes some force to feel the pop.

Well, shite. I am both fast and heavy

ETA- any reason to consider the Shift? Or just roll with the Pro

I’m heavy, but not fast. I only favor the Pro (over speed) for distances of 5k or less. At those paces I almost bottom out the speed, but can really feel the pop of the pro.

Anything longer/slower, the Speed is my favorite shoe.

Shoes.com has the speed 2’s for 96$ with “shoes” coupon code. Cheaper than I could find the first versions for.

i credit the Anthem 2s with my really bad latter 2020 and early 2021 running blues. it probably was part of just getting burned out on top of covid.

they really just sucked out all joy of running. i didn't get it because they felt good, maintained great shape after 200+ miles running, but after i ditched them, i actually started enjoying running again. i got some ghosts and launches and a new balance this fall and that's been really helpful.

i like the ghosts, but don't love what they've done with it. the 9 was the GOAT before they started catering to the soccer mom look.

regarding springy, the brooks launch is definitely what i would call a springy shoe.

I am really into running now but I think it's just because I'm at a point in my life where I'm using it to zone out and not think about work or anything else.

I plan to buy new shoes in a couple of weeks and I think I'll opt for the Ghosts. I'm also considering NB Fresh Foams. My friend has a pair and loves them.
