Please review once you get a hundred or so on them. The razor 3 hasn't come down enough for me to order them yet.

Right now I'm looking at the Zoom Streak 6 or 7, or a pair of Adizeros to replace the Razor 2s at 200 miles. Just makes more sense for me as a mid foot striker. (the razor 2 definitely favors the heel striker)

Plus side of the 2 former is either are working with pebex or TPU which offers the response I crave.

I will give as much of a review as I can for a recreational runner. I fell in love with the Speed 5’s and am looking for something to cycle in for longer runs. Hoping these are what I’m looking for. If they favor a heel strike I think I may be disappointed. The price is higher than I usually spend, but if they feel half as good on my feet as the Speed 5’s I’m fine with it.

If I won the lottery, I'd make it my mission to abolish heel striking, it's just plain biomechanically wrong. Try it barefoot and I promise the biofeedback would stop you.

Maybe why I love them. I’m an avid heel striker on casual pace. I’m better about it if I’m going under 8 but almost all pictures of me running show a solid heel strike.

Bought some Boston 6s. Got them for 59. 8.5oz is kind of heavy IMO (as you've heard me bitch about Adidas) but I know the boost material well.

I just needed something reliable. Razors are getting retired because of the defect and it's effect on my hip.

By the way, we are all heel strikers when we get tired. There is no way around it.

Where at? This is my favorite shoe for threshold runs. Difficult to find these days.

You're the man. They must have found some additional pairs in their warehouse since the last time I searched.

You guys and your Sketchers

Are they really better than traditional running shoe brands?

Is it the Meb effect? The Burt effect?

(and would you recommend Sketchers trail shoes over Brooks or Altra, I need a new pair pronto)

For the record, I thought the Go Meb Razor 2s were not a good shoe. I think that Go Run 6 is a very good shoe but will definitely only last 2/3 as long as a pair of Brooks.

The entire world is excited about the Razor 3 it seems. (Me included)

I wouldn’t buy a pair of Skechers for the trail, too many good trail shoes to choose from. Too much to lose on trails to go with a novice trail running shoe/shoe company injury wise.

I am not one that buys shoes because I think one brand is better than another. I will run in whatever feels good on my feet and performs how I like.

I have tried many different brands but have traditionally run in Brooks pure flow. I did not like the last couple of versions as much and bought a pair of GoMeb speed 5’s after reading it on this board. They were exactly what I was looking for and they were less than $50. I also benefited because all lower leg aching disappeared.

They do appear that they will wear out quicker than others but they were priced accordingly as well. I’ve only have about 120 miles in them.

I’ve not tried any of the trail shoes so I can’t comment on that.

It’s the price for a fast shoe. I’ve paid $80 for 4 pairs and they have all served me well. People can knock them as a whole for a brand but they perform. Probably 2/3 life of brooks, NB, or Altra.

I’m not the fastest dude in this group by a wide margin but I can freaking fly in razor 2s. I’ve set most of my 1 mile and under PRs or KOMs in those. I know Burt didn’t love them but they work for me.

I would not. They make 2 trail shoes.

Escape plan is cheaply made.

Ultra Trail Max has some nice features but Brooks, NB, and Altra make more compelling, beefier shoes IMHO. They feel less cheaply made, but not as sturdy as I wanted.

Look at Altra Lone Peaks/Olympus or Brooks Cascadia/Calderas. Or if you can find them at REI or another shoe place Hoka Challenger ATR or Speedgoat.

Thanks for the replies. I wasn't trying to be a dick as much as just being surprised. Before this thread I didn't even realize they made running shoes.

They look pretty good, have solid reviews, and a much better price range.... I'll probably pick up a pair this spring just to have some road shoes.

Learn something new every time I open this thread and the marathon thread.

Oh I didn’t take it as being a dick at all.

Skechers deserves the skepticism. They’re fairly new to the market in the running world and you don’t see a lot of studs wearing them outside of Meb. I mean the Razor 3 is the first time I’ve heard anybody get excited about a Skechers release in the history of ever.

I saw a pair of GoRun 600s for $20 at Burk’s outlet and decided why not. The price point was compelling for me and after a few runs liked what I felt. Found a few more in my travels for similar prices and jumped on them.

Burt tried a similar model and liked them as well. Didn’t like the exact one that I did though. I don’t think anybody thinks they’ll hold up like Brooks/NB/or higher end Nikes but for training they’ve surpassed expectations.

MIL got me a pair of Adidas ultra boost for Christmas. I turned my happy arse around and bought another pair. The most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. I am usually strictly Nike but these are ridiculously comfortable.

I have heard Brooks are even better, might get a pair after these wear out.
