The Razor 2 really came alive yesterday during speed work. Had some damn nice pop to them. Not sure what happened on my initial run (maybe the 30 mph wind gusts/cold), but damn they felt good yesterday.

awesome. like i said, they give back what you give them. i haven't, but you can remove the insoles and they're supposed to be even more poppy. that would remove the illusion of cushion entirely though.

Curious on Burt's review as well.

Okay, here's what up with the Razor 2. Keep in mind that this is just my opinion and this comparison only applies to my experience.

Picture one shows that both the 2 and the six have the exact same sole except they pulled a Nike and shaved off the width.

Picture two shows that the mid sole is a little thinner and the curve designed to help toe off is missing in the Razor 2.

I have issues with the Razor 2.

It's only a 1/10th ounce lighter.
The upper feels cheap and heavy.
There is a dime size dent in the left shoe where my heel rests, so I had to put the liner back in. (now they're heavier than the 6)
The toe box is very narrow. Too narrow.
Need to use all the lace holes because the heel won't lock.
The tongue curls under.

Otherwise close to the same ride, which is huge for me but I'm not sure it's enough for me to take these to the full lifespan of the shoe. Too many negatives for my foot type/shape.

Crazy thing is that the Meb Razor 2 retailed for 30-40 more. Sorry 3, Go Run 6 all the way.

I have to edit. It's not that the Razor 2 is a bad shoe, it's just that the GO Run 6 is that good.

Yeah I mentioned this in my initial post, had trouble locking the heel in. Had to stop yesterday to readjust, but I was in kind of a rush to start, so figured I may not have locked down initially like I should have.

I figured out why the 6 and Meb Razor 2 are so different. The Meb was released before the 6. I think the Meb was released right before LA marathon 2017 and the 6 the following spring which addressed basically all the issues I described.

The Meb and the Go Run 5 are the twins while the 6 has the same sole type with improved upper and extra sole and curve for the mid foot folks. Should have bought another pair of 6's instead.

Interesting observations. I agree spot on for the toe box, stiff, upper, and lace locks.

That being said, the only one that “bothers” me is the lace lock for ankles. Mid foot strike is pretty hard, but I’m expecting that.

I haven’t tried the 6s to compare, but will look at them sometime. Sorry they didn’t work for you.

I think they're still going to work after today. I figured out that for these shoes, I have to wear a very specific type of sock, and oddly enough use them for my slower runs.

Felt way better on today's recovery run.

Anybody have this issue with the Ghost? Upper pulling apart, only about 200 miles in.

Nope. My ghosts 9s are rock solid. Wear around the heel collar but that’s after 400 miles.

Welp, built the bullet on a new long run trainer today. The New Balance Fresh Foam Beacon. Went this route over the Kinvara/Asics that I mentioned earlier. It’s a newer version of the Fresh Foam. Light weight (7.6 oz), plenty of cush and a fully knit upper like I prefer. The toe box is a perfect size for my foot. Durability would be my main concern with a ton of foam exposed, but we’ll see. There are some pieces of re inforced rubber in targeted areas to combat that, apparently. All online reviews look solid. And yes, I have a problem.

That is interesting with the foam. They look good.

Curious how you like them. I’m probably going to need to get something for long runs soon. May just get another pair of my Sauconys that I’m using now though.

Yeah that much foam at 7.6 oz, 6 mm drop and a fully knit upper is up my alley for a daily. I prefer a simple upper like these, escalante, etc., than a bulky upper with un necessary plastic and shite around the heels like the Ghost and Solar Boost that I own. Un needed weight imo.

Someone asked about the Asics DynaFlyte 3 last week. Not familiar with the 3, but I absolutely despised the 2. Got less then 40 miles before parking them on the shelf. Few redeeming qualities as far as I'm concerned. Pretty sure the 3 is very similar to the 2, with only minor changes. Only upside is I hope they help me cut the grass faster this spring.

Welp. Just pulled the trigger on the Nike Zoom Fly Flyknits.

Road Runner Sports had them on sale, and since I'm a VIP member, I got another 10% off. Hopefully a decent deal.

Will write review when they come in. I want to get back into some 5ks this spring, so wanted a fast shoe.
