Definitely…. My next gravel frame will have to have room for 50mm+

Yeah I really like the aspero but the limited tire clearance means I will not buy one till they can clear 2.2s

Picked up the new ride quicker than I thought:

Cane Creek has 40% off everything for Black Friday. I’m trying to figure out a reason why I don’t need a set of eeWings for my ti ss mtn bike. Need to make sure I can make em work with their 30mm spindles.

They released an updated version a few months ago and added like 5mm clearance. Wtf

Yeah only certified to clear 45s but you could push it to 47.

I took this far too serious for a few years ripping the Fargo quite literally everywhere on 27.5x2.8s.

lol damn... rolling resistance has left the chat
Got my first mtb crash in about 20yrs out the way last week. Nothing too serious.. Clipped a tree with the bars on a flow trail. Slung me on the ground like a wet rag before i had time to realize what happened. Couple bruised ribs...all good

Glad you’re good! After my big Italy crash, I’ve been pretty determined to ride “safe.” Had a slow speed layover on a steep off camber raw cut corner at the race in November. But that wasn’t much of a crash since it was low speed and I basically just laid it over on high side of hill.
Then a week later I was just cruising a fun, high speed trail feeling awesome and in the flow. Railed a banked corner and dislodged a rock and lost the front. OTB at pretty high speed. Stood up and was shocked nothing was hurt other than a few abrasions. Kind of glad to get it out of the way. A bit of a relief after a big crash that put me off the bike to get the next crash out of the way and remember that all crashes aren't catastrophic (not that I’m eager to have another).

thx!!
pretty much exactly what happened to me... cruising through this flowy section of trail with a few small berms between trees at decent speed then all of a sudden i'm on the deck haha...
didnt even feel the ribs for a day or 2. still WAY better than when i lost the front tire on the gravel bike last year and sliced my arm open on a piece of limestone and cracked my hip. that kinda sucked

I'm seriously considering a Chamois Hagar but it's really a drop bar MTB and might suck as double duty on the road.
A Stigmata or Cutthroat are my top two right now. Aspero just did t have the tire clearance and geo is pretty much identical to my 2015 Crux EVO. Wanting to run 45-47 700c

My Aspero sees the road when I don't feel like riding the SL7 or if I'm going to be hoping between pavement and gravel. I've got a set of wheels setup with 35mm GP5000 ASTRs. Only downside is the gearing but I dont ride that bike on the road for fast group rides so it's fine.
Aspero doesnt have the tire clearance of the Stig, but the Aspero is probably a little better on the road...

No personal experience or opinion, but everyone I know who has/had a Chamoi Hagar either had Evil deals or were Evil fan boys,,, and I can’t think of any of them who still ride that as their gravel bike. Most were super enthusiastic about it at first, then enthusiasm seemed to wane.
Cutthroat on the other hand is a proven classic.
You might check out the GT Grade as well. Its pretty overlooked but has very positive reviews.

Put the fat tires back on my drop bar single speed gravel bike. Threw on a friction shifter and old 9 speed cassette. Took her out in the snow.
