On the first day, I ended up planting my face into a rock after going OTB. Fractured my cheek, broke my nose, and lacerated by lip to the point that part of it was pretty much detached and required plastic surgey.
whoa....

Would not recommend…
In all honesty, the nose and cheek were no big deal. The lip was mainly annoying because we were in Italy to eat, and it definitely put a cramp in my culinary style. Hah.

Looks like you're putting together a nice rig there.

I didn’t even know this thread existed.
I picked up the sport this summer in preparing for an upcoming sprint tri. Slightly obsessed. Not quite addicted. This sport can become expensive.

Golf way more expensive and you don't have to spend half you time looking for a damn ball.

The most expensive part of my golf outings was usually the alcohol purchased. Group ride has taken the place of any golf on Saturday mornings, so that eliminates the alcohol intake.

Yeah cheap Tifosi's generally. I abuse the hell out of sunglasses and go through them frequently. Lost, cracked, scratched, smashed, scattered, smothered, diced...

i don't know about that...... i spent a pretty stupid amount of money between clothing, nutrition, never ending bike maintenance, etc... not to mention the 4 bikes hanging in my shop. I think it depends. If you're riding hours every day you're going to rack up a lot of expenses.

Just put down the final payment on a new bike this morning. Can confirm
Unfortunately, it’ll be here just in time for when it starts snowing.

Ended up going with a Fairlight Strael 3.0 with 105 Di2 in iridescent plum. It’ll be a nice upgrade from the Shimano Sora I’ve been riding for the last few years.
Great reviews, coupled with its ability to handle some light gravel (which there is a ton of around me) made me pull the trigger on it.

Anyone have some sunglasses they like? I’m over my Oakley Advancers. I can’t get a lens to last more than a couple months before the tabs break off.
I just picked up some Smith Reverbs. I got the photochromic gray lens. It also came with a rose colored lens. Maiden voyage is today. I'll report back.

My first real bike purchase is an older Felt FRD that's focused as a hill climber. My mind is now telling me I need an aero bike, too.
I've found if you look around that you can find some deals on accessories. I picked up a new Elite Tuo trainer for my office for $167 (Brands Cycles). That's about as inexpensive as you will find one with ERG mode. I have a Elite Quobo at home that I think I picked up for less than $100 a few years ago. Add 2 fans, mats, front wheel blocks, and Zwift on my iPad, and I have a trainer set up in both locations for less than $500.
I may pick up a bike/trainer table for each location and a blower fan for both locations on Prime day. That'll be another $300-$350, but that should fully complete both locations.
Until I want to add new TV's for Zwift to both locations...

there are always deals to be found, especially internationally... but the $500 rear derailleur or the $450 shoes are still gonna be $$$ at the end of the day. I've spend $800 just on shoes this year

Bogue chitto park is fun on gravel bikes if you ride the gorge trail and they just redid the entire trail system for mountain biking.
I've wanted to try this place for awhile. How has it been lately. Any responses would be appreciated, thanks

Pretty happy with the photochromic lens. They fogged a little, but that was probably a factor of me straying from my trusty UA headband to a thinner one that didn't soak up the sweat as well. And buying a more aero helmet that doesn't breathe as well as my old one.

Did a gravel race today. Won my category. Pretty easy since I was the only one who entered single speed
I usually race the 60ish mile (66 this year) but after preriding the course decided I didn't feel like riding for 4.5 hours today. So last minute swapped my registration to 34 miles single speed. Spent Thursday rebuilding my old fat bike turned 29er into a drop bar single speed gravel bike. Maiden voyage was the race.
With a 60 mile ride I have to be pretty conservative and ride at a good steady pace. With a 34 mile race in a single speed I can just hammer away for 2 hours then hit the open bar. Had fun. Drank beer. Really enjoyed the single speed gravel.
