14 or 15 mph and the pit was in front of me and turned and came after me. I took my foot off of pedals to try to keep at legs length so slowed down. She jumped my leg and I went into the grass but stayed upright slowly moving.

Yikes. I guess good thing you weren’t jogging.

Did my longest ride ever yesterday and blasted my speed goal. 52.22 at 17.5! I rode with a group of about 20, and they really pushed the pace. I was at 18.2 through 30 miles, which is downright flying for me. It was a big challenge and I can’t wait to do it again.
Good job man!

Bought my wife a Giant Roam (aluminum frame), but once I got it home noticed a small dent on the Top-bar of the frame. Is this something I should return and exchange back at the bikeshop, or would this be seen as petty?
I'm really just worried about long-term structural issues and don't really care about what it looks like.

You catch Nario’s performance today in Tour de Provence? He was flying

One of the small street crossings between Lacombe bridge and Tranquility Road. Closer to Tranquility.
**edit** Looking at Garmin Connect it looks like I slowed down a lot around Durnin st. Maybe that was the crossing.

At the very least take it back to the shop and let them look at it. I’d probably return it just for aesthetic sake.
*edit* where on the top bar frame. Close to the head tube or seat post?

Well shite, that's right where I ride. Kind of glad I decided not to ride that morning, because I'd have been passing there around the same time as you I reckon. That area gets trashy.

Thanks dude.
I have an easy hour tomorrow (Z2), some sprints on Wednesday and Thursday, potentially some sprints or a fast run on Friday, and then I plan to do 60 on Saturday. Here is to some good weather!

What is your race?
It's a 50mi gravel race just south of Richmond, Monster Cross. Good lil early season race to see where the legs are.

Exactly in the middle.
Looking at it more now in the day light, it looks like it was crushed and then painted over (paint is perfect on it), so it's probably from during manufacturing but before assembly.

I believe I’ve seen some discussion of triathlons in here in the past so pardon me if this isn’t the place
It can be. I'll allow it.
Doing the Texas 70.3 in April but training is lacking on the TT bike.
I saw the conversation about 25 on front and 28 on back. I can top that. My TT bike I run 22 zipp 404 on the front and zipp 25 808 on the back. Why? because that's the leftover wheelset I have available to me.
BTW, did a dirty duathlon this past weekend. I think I was 4th or 5th fastest overall on the bike out of 70 or so.
then realized I was still 5.5 minutes behind leader.

Just bought a 1980s Trek 460 frameset. Pretty excited about trying to build a bike for the first time.

Hell yeah, baw.
I did a hard 15.5 today. I was in Z5 for over four miles going right into the teeth of a stiff east wind (about 12 - 15 mph). I was holding a 16.5 - 17 mph speed during that stretch and really had to push it.
My overall speed wasn't what I wanted (16.8 with a goal of 17.0), but it was good to push it for that long.

dont worry about speed so much. too many things that can affect it. power is a better metric to train with. get a power meter
Posted on 2/17/22 at 10:32 am to gmrkr5
I don't have a power meter. I may not get one since I'm simply trying to get faster and complete the century ride.
Got 17.0 mph average today on 15 miles, battling a strong E wind too

that's kind of my point. you're obviously training for something but it sounds like speed is the main metric you are using to gauge your workouts. there are so many factors that can affect speed. you could go out one day and have a very slight tailwind but based off of your speed, you think you're getting faster etc etc. you get the point
