I stand corrected… either way, stand by my previous statements. Seems unnecessary

I guess at the margins for a peak cyclist maybe it does something. For me, a old guy riding for enjoyment and admittedly slow, nothing. I’ll probably go all 28’s when ready.

Sprint intervals this morning. I’m supposed to do an hour of cross training tomorrow but I might move that to Wednesday so I can ride again.

I did Wednesday’s ride today. It was some sustained HR Z5 sprints and a long cooldown. I’ll either run or lift (or both) tomorrow if it rains, or ride again if it doesn’t.

how long do these sprint intervals last? i think in a previous post you mentioned like 1 minute and 1 1/2 minute sprint intervals, in which case they aren't "sprint" intervals. not saying they won't help, but 15-20 seconds is as long as i've ever done balls-out full gas sprint intervals.

as a matter of fact the best workout for this was prior to cx season at clinics when we would line up and do mass start repeats trying to win a holeshot. that left me gassed. and appreciate wout van aert even more. people are surprised what a strong sprinter he is, but the start of every cx race is a chaotic bunch sprint.

I think I was mistaken. I did 30 second, all out sprints yesterday. Today, I did 2-minute Z5 sprint intervals. I was not going all out, but I was obviously pushing it greatyl.

I've become absolutely addicted to Zwift over the past few months. I feel completely off if I don't get home after work and knock out a training ride these days.

I have a basic, "non-smart" trainer. It's not too bad, but a little boring. I just put on some TV and go for it.

GP5000s on the other hand are essentially an every day "race" tire with no additional puncture preventing materials outside of the Vectan continental users in it's higher end tires. They are also some of the fastest rolling tires you can buy.

I've been out of riding for a few years and the GP5000s had just replaced the GP4000sii's as the go to tire. But I only rode the GP4000sii's. Every training ride and race (triathlon). Get some latex tubes as well. They are very delicate to install, but once installed, they are actually more puncture resistant from typical things like pinch flats (I never got a flat on latex and carried butyl in my flat kit). It's not huge, but you can feel a difference and there are some watts to be saved as far as rolling resistance. You will have to pump up your tires before every ride as they do lose air overnight.....but you should be checking your tire pressure before every ride anyway.

if you want to do Zwift, you don't need a smart trainer or even a power meter. just get a speed sensor and cadence sensor, along with a little usb bluetooth or ANT+ dongle and you're good.

Greetings baws: I believe I’ve seen some discussion of triathlons in here in the past so pardon me if this isn’t the place … is anyone planning on doing the Grandman sprint in Fairhope this May or has anyone ever done it?

I've never done a tri although it's a goal of mine to do a 70.3 one day.

I've been getting my rides in on the trainer. I'm doing 50 this Saturday. I hope to hold a nice 16.5 or maybe even 17+ mph pace. It should be a beautiful morning!

Did my longest ride ever yesterday and blasted my speed goal. 52.22 at 17.5! I rode with a group of about 20, and they really pushed the pace. I was at 18.2 through 30 miles, which is downright flying for me. It was a big challenge and I can’t wait to do it again.

35 mile ride yesterday on the Trace. Bit by a Pit Bull. Single small puncture on my ankle and some light bruising. Owner grabbed her after she got my ankle. Second time this has happened. The other was a German Shepherd although in its case the owner got him before he got me.

Do y’all carry anything for dog charges? Thinking about a small can of mace velcroed to underside of the Garmin mount or on top of stem.

Were you at speed when it charged? That would freak me out.
