Supplements that work

So I just started lifting again 5 weeks ago. I've never taken any supplements but I'd like to start and dont really know where to test the waters at. Anything that can help with recovery and pack on muscle. I've heard creatine helps with the muscle but not sure about recovery other than just intaking lots of protein. Anything else I should look for?

if your diet and sleep are good you don't really need anything but as far as what your asking for, creatine.
I would try and get double bodyweight or 55% of daily calories minimal from protein. Get a full 8 hours of sleep upto 10 to help recover.

I'll put this out there first. I don't really think people getting back into it should use supplements until they have enough time with solid diet and programming to know how their body responds.
That said, there's solid evidence for creatine and protein powder for muscle gain. For recovery, including ceylon cinnamon, turmeric and ginger can help with inflammatory response and doms.
The most effective supplement addresses an area you're deficient in. If you're low on zinc, getting to normal will help. Same for a lot of other things, so knowing your own situation is big.

100% agree and i dont consider protein a supplement, more of a food. but yea sleep and plenty of food and a good program will do way more then supplements.

I take creatine, fish oil, and 100% whey after workouts. Just started the creatine and fish oil so I'll try to check back in if it helps.

Raw red meat.

Ideally grass fed, grass finished. If too expensive don’t worry regular old beef is perfect and the only “supplement” you need.

Diet helps way more than any supplements will, but here's what I take:
Creatine
BCAAs
Multivitamin
Vitamin B complex
Preworkout

Spinoff: anyone have experience with mark Wahlbergs line of supplements, Performance Inspired ? I tried the pre workout and it didn’t really give me any boost

Echo above comments, but Mag Glycinate is legit for soreness/cramps/spasms

I already eat a ton of red meat. But I'm wanting to smoke myself every day so I'm gonna need something for recovery

You got any bad intense nightmares?

No not yet, but I have experienced major sweating when waking up some mornings.

if everything else is in line (diet and workout) all you need is protein and creatine.
