Glad you took the step.
Most people never do it. A high protein diet with lifting is a body composition changer.

What are the details to a high protein diet? I need to lose weight and am looking for a diet. I’m aware it’s about the calories in being less than the calories out, but I also want to eat good too.

Try to get 1g of protein per lb of body weight every day while keeping your calories low if you're trying to lose weight. Basically just prioritize eating meat

Details aint really my thing.
So the goal is 1 g protein/lb of body weight each day. After that, just make sure Im getting some carbs and fats to go with it.
Calorie number depending on your goal. Losing weight, do a deficit.
One thing I got going for me is Im friends with the local farmer whos putting animals to slaughter this time of year. Fresh beef, pork, chicken, and eggs.

Eat protein first at every meal. Drink whey shakes between meals or as meal replacements.
Protein makes you feel fuller, so unless you are trying to gain weight, you will consume less calories than if you ate a typical carb heavy diet.
Look up the “protein leverage hypothesis” and think about the implications.
