I wonder if you work out with my old college roommate. He is big into CF in Alex. Competes in all the local competitions and whatnot.

Not Prejean, right? I'm at SouthBank, not Alexandria. If any of them compete, I am not aware of it. The coaches work their natural asses off, so they might.

A typical warmup would be: 500 meter row, 2 x 10 iron cross, 10 air squats, 20 pvc shoulder thingies, 10 light kettle bell swings.

Most warm ups a designed to get blood flowing.

I’m talking more body part specific stretches.

Whatever dude, there are many great ways to train for explosive strength and functional movements, you ever seen elite rock climbers or even ninja warrior competitors? Personally, I would enjoy both of those more than Olympic lifts.

Ok, have fun looking like a skinny little biatch then.

Fine you win, like you said earlier anyone who doesn't Olympic lift is a skinny little biatch with no explosive strength who should stick to Orange Theory or Barre.

I do appreciate the other posters in this thread who are sharing very good fitness advice about CF and lifting that even applies to a simple guy like me who can only handle a 5-3-1 or stronglifts program.

My wife and I were the only ones at 6pm class today

3 rounds of 3min amrap
500m row (stop at 500m or 2 min)
Squat cleans
5min rest

I started experiencing really bad elbow pain and some loss of strength in my forearm after round 1 so I switch to front squats. Dull, achy, pressure pain. Coach suggested laying off pulling movements for the next week

How’s your front rack? Elbow pain could be from that. Did it continue to hurt on the front squats?

My front rack is okay, I think. Doesn't feel uncomfortable.

It hurt through the whole workout, basically, and for about an hour after I got home. Just very achy, and I rolled out that same spot on my triceps that was hurting, and it was very sensitive. My guess is thats related.

Took ibuprofen, Tylenol, and a lidocaine patch on both elbows when I got home

Just an FYI. I hit a power snatch at 185 today.

Not terribly heavy for the Oly lifter but I’ll take it.

Y'all think if I just say CrossFit in a thread title, it'll get at least 50 replies?

Probably..

I just decided to bump this thread with that snatch lift for the guy who says he sits in a office all day and sees no need for Olympic Lifts.

Why even work out at all if that is his reasoning?

Did I mention I sit at a desk all day?

You sound upset that I don't workout like you. What can I do to make you feel better?

Would taking a picture at my "box" with some stupid motivational quote to let everyone know how awesome I am for working out help?

No box. I work out at a gym like everyone else.

I still find the argument between you and LE laughable as you contradicted yourself over and over.

I find it laughable that you can't distinguish between what I said I prefer and what's "right or wrong" in general. I also find it laughable that you're still butthurt over it some 5 days later

LE I think my front rack is the problem. Push presses today and my elbows flared up again. May have to lay off of front rack for a while.. not sure how to accommodate some of the WODs without it but that's why coaches are there.

I used to get some pain right behind my elbow where it meets the tricep. Stretching it (tricep) and rolling a ball on it usually helped. Sit at a table and put the ball up under there. Roll it around and Flex your arm back & forth with the ball resting under it,

Seemed to happen more after I’d workout hard 3-4 days in a row. Hopefully it’s just a mobility restriction and not a true injury.

That's pretty much exactly where it is very tender. Whatever is happening, it must be causing some swelling because pain radiates through my whole elbow and I lose strength in my forearm, as if there's something pressing on nerves. It's happening in both elbows but only the right really flared up today.
