As lsu777’s link says, and as he’s said on here before; boron is supposed to increase your free testosterone, not total. Is there anything else the OP could be taking that would increase his total to 1000?

Not surprising, highlights "Bone support" right on the front of the bottle for a reason

Meaning as boron intake is increased prostate cancer risk decreases?

correct, it was observation study, but those that took boron had decreased risk. not necessarily by dosage just those that took at least 6mg had decreased risk

FYI...with big Testosterone increases...be sure to monitor your PSA as well.

Yeah, my PSA is low, but I don't want to take any chances. I'm 65, so I'm gonna keep a close eye on it.

i mean 1000 isnt unheard of but i doubt it had anything to do with the boron. i havent seen anything about boron increasing total.

but certainly could be from the OP eating more meat, exercising, losing weight

and then also, people(not you, but others) seem to forget that a test is a snapshot in time. thats why if you think you have Low T, to not just have one test. take multiple while fasted over a 3-6 month period and see the trend line.

i mean honestly except in cases where there could be life threatening issue, I think that is good advice overall. Many people tend to jump on a medication(not just test) immediately after 1 bad test result. Doctors are bad about that shite too.

High testosterone levels promote prostate growth, so it can elevate the PSA levels. Mine was low until my annual physical last year. It was slightly elevated, so I was referred to a urologist. It climbed in the 3 months between the physical and the urologist visit...3 PSAs, 1 traditional biopsy and 1 MRI guided biopsy later, and I'm positive for prostate cancer. I'm actually 10 years younger than you, and they caught it early. The average age of diagnosis is 67, so just stick with the annual test results.

Is 10mg too much? I just saw some 10mg pills the same price as 3mg so it seemed to make sense to get more.

actually only free testosterone is associated along with IGF not total and Boron has a role in this too. So increases in Free Test cause a rise in predictive values of prostate cancer roughly 3% for each standard deviation you are from the mean. But kicker is only in those predictive of being at increased risk of PC due to genetic markers and family history. IGF is higher for each SD from the mean.

anyways getting the increase from BORON supplementation does not show that and shows decreased risk of prostate in men and cervical and lung cancers in women.

but boron itself is associated with up to 64% reduction in prostate cancer vs those that were boron deficient when comparing 2 sub groups of men that are predisposed to PC via family history. Also in animal treatments(may be some studies on PSA & boron in humans I havent seen) they saw up to 89% reduction in PSA values.

but with all things cancer is complicated as frick and there are lots of things that can happen that can still cause it no matter what you do.

but in general...from the limited studies...Boron=good for reduction of PC risk despite elevating Free Test due to its ability to inhibit local expression of IGF-1 in the prostate.

TLDR: boron seems to be good for preventing prostate cancer, but listen to your fricking doctor on this, they are way smarter than some douchebag like me on the internet.

9-15mg is usually recommended. for some it messes with sleep so you can try splitting or taking all at once in the morning

Thanks 777. All I could find in studies online was 6 mg. I’ll go with 10 mg and let it ride

Great info, and insight.

I'm fortunate. I've known my Urologist since we were kids, and he is one of the best in the field. He's done over 3,000 robotic prostatectomies, and that looks like the route I'm going to take.

I’ve been taking Boron now for 3 months. I’m 72.5 and my test was 489 at 5 months ago. My next doc checkup is 2/21 and I will come back here and post my test result. I am definitely curious about it. Now that you have said your test has doubled.

Would the testosterone increase from boron supplementation be high enough to result in accelerated hair loss/thinning?

that has to do with conversion not levels..pretty much based on genetics. if you didnt have hair thinning in the late teens and early 20s....then shouldnt

for some yes, try splitting morning and night and if you are affected, take only in the morning.

My shipment came today, popped the first ones. I'll let everyone know if I gain the ability to see the music or something.
