Well thats because supplements aren’t regulated. They don’t have to go through clinical trials. Its an interesting study, but they are going to need to do more research on it before it takes the place of diabetic meds to which it was being compared
ETA: As far as supplement use, seems like a waste of money. But most are except for creatine

What’s really to discuss? Caffeine and creatine are known to work.
Well, this is a discussion and not just a come up with stuff that may or may not be true.
What about loading, different forms of creatine, is one terrible inefficient compared to others, should you avoid a brand?......
Caffeine.... What about tolerance, dosage, timing?....

In what way? As a performance enhancer? Possibly, more research is needed but it has shown a ton of promise as a nutrition partitioner and been used by many with good results in the form of glucose disposal agents specifically yellow gold from Anabolic minds and pslin from usplabs.
As far loss agent, not really as it shown that ability in all of the studies quite effeciently.
As a health and anti aging supplement...not at all. Examine.com gives it 3 arrows(their highest rating) for strong scientific backing to lowering blood glucose, A1C and 2 arrows for notable scientific backing on total cholesterol reduction.
Do we need more studies in its ability to activate glut4 and cause nutrition partitioning? Absolutely, but is what I would consider proven as a health supplement.
Is it proven like metformin? Hell no and won't ever receive the kind of funding to do those kind of studies unless a drug company can convince the FDA to pull it as a supplement like they did the fish oil ethyl ester.

You convinced me to try berberine. Let's see how this goes.

I have IBS and a side is upset stomach. I'll start low end at least until I get a good handle on whether it triggers the IBS.
I'll try to post a review when I get a sense of how it's going.

I take Species Amino Evolved. One scoop of Blue Raspberry flavor mixed into a room temperature water bottle tastes fine to me.

Check out phosphatidic acid. There is a 8 week study on ncbi on 16 resistant trained individuals. The results are a likely benefit on strength improvement, and a very likely benefit on lean tissue accruement in young, resistance trained individuals.
I've personally taken phosphatidic acid and I definitely notice an increase in strength while using it.
I rarely see anyone mention this supplement. If anyone is interested in the exact supplement I take let me know.

I'd like to know if there are any hard facts about the supposed benefits of alcar/l-carnatine and coq10.

This is a good summary of alcar:

Just got my berberine. It is insanely yellow and sticks to everything. Going to start at about 500 mg a day and ramp up if it does not bother my stomach.

Haha yea it will die anything, not called yellow gold for no reason. How do you plan to take it? It's insanely bitter, just a heads up.
Where did you get from?

I'll probably just dilute in water and chug. I could do empty gelcaps, but I don't have a funnel for the pills.
Most often, I wind up biting the bullet. Weekdays I'll take it divided into pre and post workout meals. If it goes well, maybe a third dose in the morning with breakfast.
