Revisiting the healthiness of a PB&J lunch

A while back I asked the board whether the standard PB&J/chips/fruit lunch is a healthy way to go, and the consensus was “no” (not enough protein, too much sugar/carbs).
Obviously a meat & veggie lunch is a better option, but because I like the PB&J lunch for its convenience, I started checking labels to try to make a better version. See how this looks:
Dave’s Killer Bread- Good Seed, thin slice:
3g protein, 13g carbs, 2g sugar per slice
Peter Pan Crunchy PB:
8g protein, 6g carbs, 3g sugar per serving
Organic Strawberry Jelly:
5g carbs, 4g sugar per serving
Totals
14g protein
37g carbs
11g sugar
Assuming you’re having a meat & veggie dinner, does the above look passable for lunch a couple of times a week? Only other thing to add is a small bag of Sun Chips and a low-sugar fruit like strawberries. Drinking water, no soda. Appreciate any feedback.

I really like their 21 Whole Grains and Seeds thin sliced bread. 3 grams of fiber in each slice, or 9 grams net carbs per slice.

To somebody that is forced to eat. I wouldn't touch that peter pan sandwich.

I like sandwich bc even though you’re getting “more carbs” and “not enough protein” it’s not that many macros man, and if you like it then it makes for a sustainable diet. I’d stay away from the sun chips though, those are “dense carbs” and you don’t realize how many carbs your eating there.

Change Peter Pan to Skippy Natural, use preserves, bread is good, and get a protein shake and G2G.

It can be healthy depending on the other foods you eat during the day and your macro goals.
14 grams isn't a lot of protein for a meal if you're trying to lift weights and build muscle. A 4oz piece of chicken has 35 grams of protein, and you can add 37 grams of carbs (11 grams of sugar) to it and make it absolutely delicious.
I'm not saying to avoid the PB&J, but it's 400 calories of mostly fat and carbs with a significant hit of sugar. It's essentially a high-protein donut.

As the poster above me said, depends on your goals.
If you aren’t trying to add on muscle its fine. I’d like to do a show within the next 2-3 years, so my coach has me eating 6 meals a day and I probably get 35-40g of protein for each one

Its not the best but control for calories and you'll be fine if you're losing or maintaining weight. As others have said, if you're trying to put on muscle you want protein. Maybe add in a protein shake.
I love PB&J. Haven't had one in a while.. sometimes I make casein pudding and mix in PB and sugar free jelly.. it's pretty good but it's no PBJ

You realize you need the all natural pb right? “Skippy natural” isn’t the same as all natty pb that has to be mixed prior to use and refrigerated

Also, don’t use trash bread. Get Ezekiel bread if you must eat bread

Is it the best.... No. But it can be eaten and improved upon easily. Drop the sun chips and as 25g protein shake. Now it is much better especially if using a slow differing protein.
Many people are gonna say bread can't be healthy blah blah blah, frick all of that over complication, just do these two things for diet and it will get you to your goals no matter what you eat too get there
Track and Make sure weekly calories meet your goal for the week. Make sure the calories Martch the goal.
Track and hit daily protein numbers.

Eat it on some 90 second bread (google it) with sugar free jelly, and Id say you were good to go.

HEB lets you press your own peanut butter using nothing but roasted peanuts (and salt). If you have that option it could cut down on the sugar that's normally in PB.

Sugar and carbs are made to be the boogie man on here. The complex carbs in that bread are good for you. The PB packs protein. The Jelly isn't bad if you aren't eating Twinkies for snack. It isn't healthy to eat 75 grams of protein with each meal. You are avoiding sat fat with this lunch. Have an upvote.

I think I’d reevaluate my life if I started eating casein sandwiches
Posted on 5/22/19 at 5:45 pm to RidiculousHype
PB&J with some Doritos (try them on the sandwich, trust me) with some 2% malk....ohhh lawd

Casein pudding, not a sandwich. It's a bowl of casein with almond milk and whatever else you want in it. Get good casein and it tastes pretty good.
