Wife and I in our early 50s, we lift weights couple times a week and have recently been training for my first 5K since college. Feels good to have momentum and see I can run longer than 5 min without wanting to kill over. I also know when Winter hits and its cloudy and 30 degrees there's no way I'm going out for a run. I don't enjoy running like she does so a bike makes sense.

Have seen quite a few on marketplace plus the ones at Academy/Dicks. Any suggestions?

I know you're asking about a bike...which I don't have any suggestions.

But, I'd recommend checking out a rowing machine as well.

Actually thought about one of them as well. Wife has some interest in some sprint triathlons thus the reason for the bike. Maybe both

I have the Kickr indoor bike trainer and like it a lot. You use your own bike, take off the back wheel and connect your bike to the kickr. It provides magnetic resistance. It's compatible with a lot of different apps, but I normally just use a basic interval program that I made.

This is the kind of thing you should buy during Black Friday sales.

Assault Fitness, Rogue, etc usually have sales.

i like the concept 2 bike. feels like a real bike, not a spin bike. if you're tech savvy you can get an app with workouts/intervals and bluetooth it to the screen. it's low tech, but they last forever and don't need any maintenance or electricity, just a C battery or two

Ive had a couple good exercise bikes, but if I had it all to do over again I'd skip right to the recumbent bike....way easier on your arse.

What's your budget, and what all do you want to get out of it? If you like coaching and metrics, I'd recommend a Peloton. I've had mine almost 3 years now and love it. I ride every other day from 45 minutes all the way up to 90 minutes. If you just want to do your own thing, any of the spin bikes would be good. I personally don't like the fan bikes, but just my preference.

This looks like what I had in mind.

Doubt I'd do the workouts/training, just some music or podcast is what I like.

Was wanting to stay under 1K but that looks close enough.

If you want a bike erg I'd recommend the Assault.

I bought a AssaultBike Prox X for $600 last year during black friday.

It's low tech but a solid bike and great deal.

I hate that son of a bitch. It's the only piece of equipment I dread seeing on a WOD.

Concept 2 is probably what you want to look at. You can find them on FB or Craigslist every once in a while. Partial to rowing machines because they are easier on the knees and ankles.

Get some rollers (Tacx Galaxia) if you really want to get the heart rate up.

Concept2 bike. Download the free app. They post daily workouts and it’ll connect to your monitor and load it. Mostly interval workouts. You can see how you stack up vs your age group.

I got a fluid trainer that I put my bike on, if you have an actual bike, that is what I would suggest.

Recumbent bike is the way to go, much more comfortable. You can ride for an hour with very little butt pain. If you do get butt pain you can set a towel or small folded blanket on the seat and it will stay because of the backrest. I have one that I ride while watching T.V..

I spent about $500 on a stationary bike that I used less than 5 times. I'd recommend trying them at the gym or maybe joining one. I just enjoy running much more.

Even planet fitness have the ones with the big screens.
