I take a pre workout called Mr. Hyde Nitro X. It’s pretty strong so I would recommend taking a 1/2 a scoop at first and checking your tolerance to it. It tastes pretty good as well.

Drink half a cup of coffee and mix in creatine. Much cheaper and all you need.

Mr Hyde is legit but dr. Jekyll is probably what OP is looking for

I’m so sick of people saying coffee is enough for everyone. No it isn’t. I can drink a cup and go to bed immediately. I’ve gone weeks without also to “reset” and still come back and need at minimum 200mg to feel something.

i like C4 sport, get's me going without the feeling of having a possible heart attack from too much caffeine

eta: only 135mg of caffeine in a scoop = 1.42 cups of coffee

Right, I get 6-7 hours of sleep a night then work all day and once 5pm or 6pm hits I need that jolt when I am in the gym. Mr. Hyde has 400mg so it definitely hits hard. I've started taking around 3/4 of a scoop just so I am not still wired at 1am.

How many carbs are you consuming per day? That might be the culprit.

I am a coffee and creatine guy 80% of the time, and then preworkout the other 20%, but that’s just my preference.

OP - if my workout is later on in the day then I’ll do half a scoop of preworkout so I won’t be jittery all night.

Drink a bang or a monster reign. 350mg of caffeine. I'll drink one of those most of the time instead of mixing a PWO. When I do take a PWO I use LIT

What else is in pre-workouts that you actually need? Any of the active ingredients you can buy in bulk at cheaper prices compared to brand name pre-workout mixes. 30 servings of C4, 1MR, Jack3d cost what? $30? $45? You can buy a whole kilo if creatine and other powders for the same price.

A cup of coffee is what 80 - 90mg? That ain’t doing shite unless you’re sensitive. Then you suggest half that get outta here with that haha.

This. You pay extra for a bunch of stuff you don't really need.

You can buy a 180 count NoDoz bottle for $30 for caffeine, a 180 count of creatine for about $30 and citrulline malate and agmatine for pump if you want it for about $30 each.

That basically gives you 180 doses for $120. Most preworkout is about a dollar a serving.

So, you save 1/3 and ensure proper dosing on everything, which is a major preworkout problem.

What about taking the Pre-workout (or drink a Bang) sometime around 3pm? It gives you the boost to finish out your work day and then carries over to the PM workout. I've done this a few times and seems to work for me, also allowing enough time to wear off and get good sleep.

Sure if it doesn’t have an itchy type of supplement. (Beta alanine?)

The itch is beta-alanine. I’ve tried probably any preworkout you can think of over the last few years. These are my thoughts:

Most intense: AREZ God of the Gym (runner up is Mesomorph)
Best entry level for price: MP Assault
Best Overall: I think it’s a coin flip between Pre-JYM and TrueNutrition’s preworkout (don’t know the name). TN is a little cheaper so edge to them I guess.

Anything with beta-alanine makes me lose my fricking mind. One of the primary reasons I got off pre-workouts. That constant tingling drove me insane.
