I wouldn't advise it

You are as fit as you are going to be, so you are not going to lose fitness, but your legs aren't going to be as primed if you are not using them some during the next week

Taper is just that. Tapering down the volume to get some recovery while still keeping run-specific muscles in the best shape possible during that recovery. Stopping running would only provide half of that equation. You would lose fitness to a degree and not go into the race with your best possible conditioning.

Did 2 miles the last 2 days. My wife ran the first day with me, so pace was slower (she's trying to get back into it after a hysterectomy). Yesterday I started my first mile really fast, but faded because I still can't sustain a sub 10:00 pace for more than 1 mile. Finished at a 10:30 pace. Gonna get a 4 or 5 miler in this weekend.

Anyone running the Louisiana Half in January?

I am eyeing it. Just haven't decided if I am running with Ainsleys, pacing a buddy, enjoying the run, or racing it

I may hop in it also. Gonna depend on work on which I won’t be certain if I can fit it in until a week or 2 before.

Going to register for the Mardi Gras Mambo 15K in BR (2/16) and the CCC 10K (4/20) soon, so definitely doing those. Only 2 definites I have so far for next year.

Just signed up for this 10 mile trail race the weekend of the LA marathon.

LINK

I've ran it before.

One of the times was the one and only trail race my wife ever ran with me. It was low 20s, wet, and has several creek crossings. It was a miserably fun race.

My wife would probably leave the "fun" out of that sentence.

Nice! That looks fun; 4.5 hours from me though. Not surprisingly, I’ve never heard of the great city of Doyline, La.

Never dawned on me before or I never paid attention, but there is no Half in the Olympics. 10K/Full only. Unless they are adding it in 2020? I remember hearing/reading Walmsley say that he was wanting to qualify also though... or maybe it was the Marathon.

Just bought a pair of Air Relax Compression Recovery Boots. Guy was selling a 1 year old pair for half the price. I am skeptical that they actually make you "recover" faster and improve performance, but they definitely help reduce soreness and stiffness after long runs/rides.

I need to stop buying myself Christmas presents though . Since black Friday, I've spent about $1500 upgrading components on my bike (Planned upgrades for a bike I've been building up for several months, but still a recent splurge to finish it). Now tack on these boots. I've been eyeing them and couldn't pull the trigger due to price, then came across this deal. I should really look at focusing on just running . So much cheaper in the long run.

Haha, now this is definitely a reason I don’t need to pick up cycling. And to think all you really need to run is a pair of shoes they said, it won’t break the bank they said, ...

Ordered a pair of Hoka Clifton 5s earlier this week. I was sure they’d make it to the house before I went out of town for the weekend. They didn’t make it until after I left. In the car, I started to get worried somebody might lift them off the porch while I was gone. Then I remembered joke would be on them if they did because nobody else wants a pair of size 15 Hokas

After taking yesterday off I put in 4 miles today @8:10 pace. 13 miles this week and will try to run both Saturday and Sunday.

I signed up for the Monument 10K on Cyber Monday and hope to shave a couple of minutes off of this year's time of 50:04.

April 13th. Because of its popularity they do verified wave starts. So far I qualify for wave BB (47:00-47:59) but I can try to shoot for a higher wave if I do better in a a race before April.

Sure you may have seen it on Strava, but he said it’s forecasted for 30 MPH winds.
