I’m still wearing them. Only about 125 so far but I like to be prepared. The big problem with the ZF is that the sole may wear out before the miles gets em. Also, I’ve probably already worn out the plate in them as I’ve read you can only get about a 100 good miles on it.

I hear ya.
I was looking around on Altra’s website last night and I couldn’t find the other shoe that uses Ego foam? Other than the Escalante. Have you ever worn the Torin? (I know we have a separate shoe thread, but since we’re on the subject)
Smashin’ records this am (according to Strava). Went out to get 4 miles in at 10K pace, ended up at 7:23.
5K PR - 22:41
2 mile - 14:30
1 mile - 7:12
1K - 4:25
The goal for this weekend is 45:00. As I mentioned before, this would line me up in the C corral at the Crescent City Classic in April. Otherwise I’ll be in D (<55:00), barring a disaster. Not that it matters where I line up, but it’s a goal, ya know.
45:00 will be tough, as I will need to be at 7:15. I would have felt better had I negative split today’s run. OTOH, I was looping a subdivision, so it was pretty curvy. Not sure what the route for Sunday is, although I’ll take a look today. Hopefully it’s mainly straight.

Met with a coach today, looks like I’ll have someone designing my plans for the next 6 months at least

Got no other Altras other than the Escalantes that I wore out. The other shoe with ego is the King trail shoe.
Great news from everyone today. Awesome!

Looks like Walmsley is doing the Houston Half on 1/20. I think cdawg said he’s doing the whole?
Posted on 11/29/18 at 6:40 pm to TigeRoots
Interesting. Listened to an interview with him and he said he wanted to try to qualify for the Olympics in the half.

Yeah I thought it was interesting he chose Houston, but cool nonetheless. Wonder why he’s never done a road Full? Guess it shows the difference in mindset of that and a trail Ultra.
Posted on 11/29/18 at 6:53 pm to TigeRoots
I assume because he wants a flat course to qualify for the trials.
Posted on 11/29/18 at 7:04 pm to Salmon
True. La is the same day, coulda came to BR! I’m sure the Houston course is just as flat.

somebody else is following his strava.
i'd like to see how he transfers to road racing. sometimes i see him doing sub 8 pace with some insane elevation.
for some reason i really don't like Galen Rupp, so i'd love to see him make it.
i'm debating a desert 50k in March in San Angelo. it's my hometown... so it would be cool to try and do. i just don't know if i have it in me to run for 5 hours.

Oh yeah. I just like seeing his insane mileage totals at elevation. I guess when you’re that talented and conditioned and it’s your job, it comes somewhat easy.
As far as the 50K I know what you mean about time on feet. Of course I’d say give it a shot. I’d be hard pressed to find the time to train for something of that distance right now, or even a Marathon.

I’ll get some decent mileage in December. 3 weeks of no work for the most part. My mileage right now is limited by getting up before the kids get up for school so mileage has dropped off since August.
I have a trail half racein February to get me ready for it. I just don’t know if I have that type of endurance by March.
I’d need to drop 10-15 lbs during the holidays.

So is it okay if most of my running gets cut out during the taper?
Missed my run yesterday. Might have time for a 3 miler this afternoon if it stops raining. They’re calling for severe weather in the morning so that might kill my 8 mile run this weekend as I’m hyper booked out tomorrow afternoon and Sunday. Then it’s race week....
I’m feeling fat.
