MAF the same as lactate threshold or similar?
Yeah, MAF and LHR programs advocate setting a max aerobic heart rate and spending the bulk of training below that number. The thought is you become more fat adapted by doing most of your running at a pace where you use mostly fat for fuel. If you can increase your aerobic pace, you can bump up the speed before your body requires more carbs, which will make you faster over long distances. There are some serious LHR advocates/coaches out there, like Phil Maffetone. I do some LHR runs but not exclusive or anything.

29 miles this week. 20 miler scheduled for this weekend. Looks like I’ll be moving it to Saturday instead of the planned Sunday. It’ll technically be a 49 mile week!
Just being honest y’all - I’m getting burned out. The runs are going really well and I feel great after the first mile or two and then feel awesome when I’m finished. But I’ve been dreading lacing up the shoes. Any tips on fighting that funk two weeks before a full marathon?

I was starting to feel it too before mine. When does your taper start?

I listened to a podcast recently were the guest was talking about MAF and the benefits (I think it was a Dr. or exercise science Ph.D.)
It did make sense. I always just go by feel

Good morning everyone. 2018 Turkey Trot 10k is in the books, and even with it being a hilly course and 35° I finished under 49 minutes. My official time from the race website has me at 47 minutes but I think something was off and I'm going to trust my watch time.
The race was a big cluster tin the beginning, with almost 1,600 runners and no wave start.

Morning everyone! Happy Thanksgiving!
I needed to return a redbox movie last night and asked my mother in law if she needed anything from WalMart. She gave me a decent list of stuff to get and I got so focused on getting that right that I forgot the movie. Decided to run it back in this morning. I’m amazed at how many people are actually shopping at WalMart in a tiny Texas town of less than 2000 on Thanksgiving Day.
Turned in to pretty decent 10k. Was a bit over 50 minutes and I walked a section or two but made some room for bad food decisions later today.
Stay safe.

My plan for the NOLA Turkey Day 5 miler 2 weeks ago was to break 40:00. But I got sick for 2 weeks and so did not know what to expect. Turns out weather was beautiful and I crushed it: 36:38!
Splits:
1 mile-7:01
2 mile- 7:11
3 mile- 7:34
4 mile- 7:25
5 mile- 7;27
Looking forward to more racing!

Well guys my 12k race today turned into 8.78 miles. The 2nd turn around sign I guess blew of the trail and down into the valley. So I ran an extra 1.33 miles today! Lucky I wasn't the only one, the little pack I was with doing same pace did the same.
Lucky the trail dead ended and you merged with the 5k group, or who knows how far I would have kept going. I knew something felt off. I felt like Jean Paul Jean Paul hahah.
First mile or so was jammed packed as the trail was only about 8 feet wide, outside of that was a nice course.
Good thing is I maintained an 8.06 mile pace, so I'm guessing I would have done the actual 12k in 57-58 minutes? I'm not sure they can adjust actually adjust my time based on distance or not, but I let them know and she said others told her the same thing.
Oh well, best I have ever run for that long of distance and took in the sights. Now time to grub. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Sounds like everybody’s living their best life today. I ran the turkey trot from my local running store - 6.5 miles of track, hills, road, and trails on a makeshift course for a good cause. Runners donate food/money for the entry fee and donations go to the local food bank. I put in 1.75 miles each way, then got back and absolutely crushed Thanksgiving. Pretty good day. About to watch this shite show of an Egg Bowk. Happy Turkey Day to all the crazy runners in this thread.
