7 miles easy this morning.

Bought a new set of aero bars for my triathlon bike with a black Friday deal. Im going to really have to focus on running and not get side tracked with the bike since I have a new toy

5 miles tomorrow morning and maybe a 4 mile make up run tomorrow night. Depends on how I feel.

Glad to see everyone do well yesterday. More importantly, seems like everyone had a good time too.

I woke up this morning looking like a pumpkin; so much salt intake yesterday. Maybe ate a little too well. 9 easy in the wind.

Well Burt I had no intention of running the Bentonville half but this medal may be too cool to pass up

Oh. My. GAWD!

I had no idea. Then top three in my age group at least. There is no other option because I need that metal.

ETA: Just looked at my age group from last year. Top 6 in the 35-39 were sub 1:25.

That’s insane. You can do it though, another 5 months of training should have you pretty darn fast!

Hog: Turns out I was wrong. Everyone gets a half marathon metal. That takes the pressure off. Every other Run Bentonville race you have to place to get one.

6 mile tempo and 10 total this morning. One mile warmup and jogged it out til I got home.

Not my best work but I’ll take it.

Your pace this morning on Strava this morning was insane.

Had a good run in my hometown visiting my folks. They added a nice trail that didn’t exist when I was here an I hit that this morning for 4.5.

Thanks man. By the looks of it, I would have rather been running in your neck of the woods.

West Texas doesn’t believe in elevation.

I ran over a speed bump today. Set a new PR for elevation climb.

20 miles!

49 mile week! Probably dumb to run a 20 miler less than a week after a 14 mile long run. But I did it!

Miles 10-15 felt like death. 15-20 were good. 10:35/mile pace but I have to admit I took a few minutes every five miles to refuel and rest. Hopefully that doesn’t hurt me in the full. Shooting for 10:15 pace.

Congratulations! I've never run 20mi in one run in my life. I'm always impressed by those long runs.

No desire to ever attempt a full, Burt?

As expected, still struggle bus central here after our Saints game/N.O outing. I may peel myself off the couch and get in some kind of workout today. Definitely gonna get a long run in tomorrow

I'm considering one next year around this time. Might start doing one a year and knock out some of the big ones before I get too old to qualify.

I've never been a big fan of how long it takes to recover from a distance that long. I really respect the guys that do multiple and the real long stuff too. Not for me.

I’m honestly scared to run a full. I’ve run numerous halves and they hurt me for days on end afterwards. There’s a 50k in March in my hometown that I’m kind of interested in but I haven’t ran anything more than about 13.5 and I really can’t imagine myself much after that.

Also, I’m built like a fullback or a linebacker. I don’t think God ever intended for me to do that sort of distance.

Took everything I had to get off the couch and run 2 miles, haha. I can’t do the whole get back to the hotel room in New Orleans at 5 am and back up again at 9:00 these days. Takes me days to recover. Hopefully I’m on the tail end of shaking off that and the shitty food. Going long in the am.

Nice efforts across the board today, fellas.

Same here on the scared part. The fear of failure looms large imo, and so much can go wrong over 26.2 damn miles. It’s not that I hurt for days after a Half, but like I said before, to turn around at the finish line and do it all over again doesn’t seem too attractive at this point. Although I certainly get the allure of it all and I’m sure I’ll do one one day.

I ran my 1st 50k three months after my first half. It was 9 months later when I ran my 1st full.

On another note: is it odd that i felt pretty good after running a marathon last weekend at 8:37 pace but felt like I was hit by a train after running 11 miles this morning at 8:37 pace?
