4 miles this afternoon when I got to my hotel. Good bit of uphill.

Between late night flight last night and early work morning today, I didn't really have it in me, but knocked it out anyway.

Probably take it real light tomorrow and Thursday. Resting Friday and Saturday based on everyone suggestions.

The mug is back in the air so far this week. Relief on the way hopefully.

Finished off my 3rd Half in a year two weeks ago and glad to be under 2 hours.

1st - 2:13
2nd - 2:00
3rd - 1:51

Felt I could have pushed a little harder toward the end, but honestly when I realized I would be under 2, I slacked off.

My under 2 hour goal is checked off. I'll be finishing up the year over 1k miles run, so that goal is done. I have a 10K on Thanksgiving and that's it for the year.
Next year I'll cross off the Marathon and start Iron Man training.

It was humid as frick this morning. Caught me completely off guard. Got in a slow and not so enjoyable 8 miler in. Still battling some congestion from this head cold. Running in the AM has been tough since I've been breathing out of my mouth all night and wake up dehydrated. Ready for this gunk to finally drain.

I've also been dealing with a cold for the past week. Worked out Monday and struggled a lot with keeping my energy level up.

Supposed to turn cold over night, so might get try to get a run in tomorrow.

Nice! I've got 2 Halfs under my belt now also, both within the last month. Got another scheduled for next weekend.

11/17/18 - ????????

Trying to decide if I want to attempt a full in the future; really torn as I know it's a different beast. Finding the time to train is my biggest hurdle. I think La. Marathon 2020 would be a realistic goal, as training during the Summer in South La for a Fall race seems pretty daunting. I too, am intrigued by doing a smaller Triathlon, but I don't own a bike and can't remember the last time I've swam!

You will.

I have zero doubt that you will.

Finally got a run in this morning after being sick. My legs were well rested though so it felt great. Easy 3 miles at a quick pace (quick for me). Easy 6 scheduled for tomorrow. Rest Friday. Back on training schedule for the weekend.

You need to check into Duathlons. You can often scoop up used bikes off craigslist for rather cheap. A typical tune-up can cost anywhere from $50-$80, assuming they don't need to replace anything. You should invest in a bike for the occasional cross training alone. Sometimes you want to get a good sweat in, but your feet and knees just aren't willing.

Today was my first day of training for full marathon distance. Going to be tough because it means waking up earlier and earlier. On the flip side, the kids and all their bullshite are keeping my up later and later.

I though this too, but having gone through the training now it really wasn’t all that bad

6:28 was the end result. but it was humid AF and slick and i wasn't feeling it at all from the second i woke up. not a terrible way to get to 1k though.

Got a small mid back disc herniation that has been acting up this week, so took a couple days off until today. Agree it was very humid, and I reverted to summer pace over 5 miles: 9:15 a mile. But I ran on grass most of the way and back feels better. I need to run on pavement less.

1K is a lot of miles. Especially considering you have nearly 1.5 months remaining. Was your wife as excited about your accomplishment as you were?

Totally agree. I will start looking very soon.

I pretty much agree!

@ hb - good to know re: Marathon training. Your training block has been killer. Excited to see the result.

Speed work done. Drenched.

Did a time based Fartlek workout with 5:00 wu/cd. 1:00 jogging rest in between the working sessions.

5:00 - 7:34 pace
4:00 - 7:10
3:00 - 7:00
2:00 - 7:12
1:00 - 6:37
1:00 - 6:55

Before Jan 1st. Just looking to get a good baseline with a more aggressive attempt in the spring. Aiming for a sub 3:45:00, but would be happy just to finish.

Noice!

What’s the longest long run you’ll do prior? Haven’t looked at many plans, but is 20 the norm to top out at?
