OTW to my 27 mile now, there's a bunch of guys doing the 50 and 100 and I look forward to running with some for a little and picking their brain. Could not sleep last night, always feel like a kid on Christmas eve before a race. Will update this afternoon with time, hopefully the trails are kind to us today.

She's there today, did the 10k at 12:30/mile. She took her costume off to show her tits off.

I think she's trying to become some kind of Disney running influencer or something. She's offering training tips.
Oh and the Walker/Runner wars have begun!

Ran on the trails today for 3 1/2 hours, I always forget how great of a reset trails are when I'm in a funk.
13.3 miles, 2050ft of elevation gain, feels good

Ran a 17:46 this morning for a second place finish at a local 5k. Opened up at 4:58 pace through the first 600-800 or so and almost crapped my pants. Some kid that was running that looked like he should know what he was doing in fact did not know what he was doing and me and the cat that won got sucked into it.

27 in 6:34. It hit 90 and I wasn't expecting that, and I found out that I didn't prepare for the chafing. My cheeks look like the squares of ground beef at the grocery store. Had an absolute blast though, learned alot, mostly that tailwind is a blessing.

Congrats what strategy did you take? Walk run any or walk on the hills and run the flats?

Initially run the flats, run the ups as much as possible and walk the down. I have a knee with cartilage that looks like crab meat according to doc and the downs are painful running. Once the heat cranked up, run the flats and try to make it to next aid station lol. Decent baby rattlesnake on the course today but he was just warming up.

Good job on the race! This definitely isn't racing weather. I did 5 with the stroller and it's hot and humid. I was dripping sweat by the end of it

I've got a 1.5 litre camel back, left 18 mile aid station and by mile 23 was empty with 2 miles to next station. At 13 I switched over to tailwind and bonked hard at 16-18, but started drinking more and eating a gel or waffle every mile or so and bounced back nicely.

Congrats on the finish. The south loop on that course is the worst lol. And 1 loop is enough for that race.

Thanks man, it's a really nice route. No big hills but they just never stop. Already been looking up some 50k's within an hour or two in the fall/ winter this year lol. This is the first race I've ever had where I wasn't happy when I finished and I don't get that. I've had this as a goal for over a year and just nothing, so the next one will just be longer.

Alabama has some excellent 50ks. Mountain Mist and Cheaha being the two classics. Oak Mountain 50k is my favorite course though.
Pine Mountain in GA, about an hour from Auburn, has a really fun 20 and 40 miler in December.

10.5 miles @ 10:53 pace
29.5 miles for the week
Weather felt nice and the miles came easy, took some self control to not knock out a few more and just stick to my planned mileage.

She did the 10 miler as well and did not have a good day she said. There’s a guy and his wife who run and have a YouTube channel. Watched one of his marathon videos from a few years ago and they ran a 3:30:00 ish marathon with stops to take photos with characters. That’s pretty impressive and he only has a few thousand followers. It’s such a small niche to try to reach its hard to get a big enough following for it to get to popular influence level. Lots of people try. lol
The big Disney folks are DFB, Mamonth Club, all ears, WDW radio, and the DIS. Those are the big dogs in that world.
You going in January?

10 miles this evening. 6 with the stroller then dropped him off at the house and did 4 more with the last 2 around threshold. Averaged 6:50 for those. That storm brought some needed cool air

Bootlegger 100 race report:
Course - 20 mile loop on hiking/mountain bike trails. Around 1600 ft elevation per loop.
Conditions - race start - 68F, Sat high - 86F, Sat night/Sun morning low - 70F
Lap 1 - 3:45 - Ran way too fast here. I felt really good in the early hours before it heated up and just kept the momentum instead of slowing down with the heat.
Lap 2 - 4:30 - Intentionally tried to slow my pace. In hindsight, it was probably still to fast.
Lap 3 - 4:45 - 1st half of the loop I was still feeling pretty good, but started feeling the effects of the fast start on the second half.
Lap 4 - 6:40 - wheels came off. Barely able to keep moving forward and took long breaks at aid stations.
Lap 5 - 5:50 - with sub-24 having slipped away, I just kept it slow and easy and tried to enjoy the victory lap.
This was an interesting test in the Georgia heat/humidity. I did find a nice balance of fluids and electrolytes along with putting ice under my hat at every aid station to avoid cramps. Taking 15 minutes to relax and regroup before the last lap - along with a 5 hour energy - was a big help in finishing. I think 50 of the 140 that started the race actually finished.
Edit: 69 finishers. I finished 12th overall.

Congrats on a solid finish.
What was your longest run and pace and weekly mileage prior to the race?
Planning on running a 50k in a couple of months and still trying to develop a game plan for pacing, only have one road marathon and my longs runs to go off of so far.
When you say too fast did you start off running the first loop and just too fast or run walking as well but just not enough walk?
