You’re putting in good work so not sure why you think you’ll crash but I gotta ask why do many of your runs on strava have large time differences b/w moving and elapsed? Revenge of the bean burritos, helping old lady cross the street, mauled by a litter of puppies?

I run during lunch a lot, and being in IT I have to take calls when people call - so I'll stop, take the call, and then start back once I'm done with the call.
That's mostly it - today I had to take 3 calls. Sometimes it's just taking calls or having to wait for traffic to pass because I run in urban areas as well and have to cross streets.
ETA: Some days I get lucky and nobody calls and I get to just run and don't have to worry about traffic - Monday for instance I was running at a State Park and nobody called the whole time, I love runs like that, they are just rare for me unfortunately.

My HR data is starting to get away from me as it heats up, I'm getting fatigued a lot faster as well. I was feeling pretty confident before it started heating up, but as it heats up I remember how much my body responds poorly to warm weather. I sweat soooooo much (I did a sweat test and sweat 2.5 times a normal person), I know Illinois will have water ever 2 miles, but I'm still very nervous is all. I've done 50+ mile weeks a lot this training cycle so endurance wise I feel pretty good, I'm just in my own head about the heat starting to come in.
My goal is sub-3:20, I know I can do it, I just hope when race day comes I'll be ready.

7 day total 27miles
It band issue seems to be cleared up although I almost feel like a hypochondriac thinking it’s gonna flare up based on how it may feel janky during the day or even during the first part of the run.

Almost perfect 3:00:07 running time, a running coach would be proud of me
I think I figured some things out as well. Used Maurten gels for the first time since throwing one up last year during my marathon - the caffeine version has a terrible chemical taste to it - so that was probably what caused me to get sick last year. Also started drinking my LMNT packet way earlier this run and felt 10 times better (during the second hour of my run), so going to add another one into my long run and see if it carries over to hour 3

7 day average 24 miles
Was planning on doing my long run today but had to cut it short. Will get it in on Sunday evening.
I started using tailwind instead of gu on a suggestion by a buddy of mine and have been using it on all my runs lasting longer than a hour. It’s very easy to drink and taste good.

I love tailwind when I'm on the trail - but for anything where I'm going to push myself at all, tailwind gives me such horrible blowouts and causes some pretty bad gastro distress

Don't know why, they market themselves as not having that issue for those that use it.
Gu and Maurten have been the best for my intestines - I'm going to try out SiS this Summer

Just wanting to bitch for a second
I am slow and pushing a stroller with a 40lb kid in it for a neighborhood 5k. I am not trying to crush a time or anything but for the love of god can walkers get in the back of the start

I considered pushing my kid in the stroller for the CCC but having to weave through lollygagging walkers would drive me insane.

SCREAM IT FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK!!!
Last week I had to make up like 10-15 seconds even in the "front corral" because there were some f***ing walkers lined up in the front. There were also a few people whom I talked to who had a goal of 23 minutes in the front corral, people are just not very self aware

Wanna join a run group on Facebook where you get to see all the walkers gang up on runners? Join the runDisney Facebook group.
I'm still on it because i laugh at the fights, especially on runDisney race days.
I'm not against walkers, I love supporting people being active, but the entitlement of those people in that group is off the charts.
Most are too focused on dressing up in drag and coordinating their costumes that they don't get that it's still a running event.

Did a 5k last weekend pushing my little girl in 22:48. I've done a half dozen races with her now and always Line up in the rear, mostly bc a sub 25 is decent for a local race and it is always nice to smoke folks while pushing a stroller.
Today 7 miles in 60 minutes, shooting for 5-7 easy tomorrow then get rested for the 27 mile trail run next Saturday.

I overheard a couple walkers complaining before a race last year that race organizers pull water stations too early before they can get to them. And this was only a 10k. I wanted to say, “Maybe it’s you, not them.”

There was a time in the not to distant past that runners (walkers) had some integrity (and shame).
Those days are over. The CCC is coming up on the 19th and its a fun, non serious race. Everyone is welcome. Just be somewhat honest on your bib time. But no, on the 19th the morbidly obese, people pulling wagons, people pushing wheelchairs, people on crutches will be up front in the 7-8 minute mile corral.
5 years ago it took about a half mile to break free of the mass of walkers, now its about a half mile up Esplanade to be able to run without obstruction.

I was wondering if I was just being a snobby elitist or if this was an actual phenomenon. The last few times I've run it have felt like some clowns snuck into the faster corrals just to act an arse. I know for a fact I've seen people with charity bibs, wearing tutus, skipping around the course and I'm in the seeded corrals. I understand the charity aspect is important but damn get in the right spot

Yeah it’s bad.
I’ve seen it evolve. Walkers were almost ashamed to be out there, kept to the sides of the course years ago.
Entitled now! And groups four, five, six wide walk their fat asses right down the middle of the street.
Partly their fault but the race organizers are just trying to make money and allow it.

5miles @ 10:20
5miles at 12:30ish run walk pace
Heat was miserable. Gonna try to start incorporating walk run to my last 5 miles of my long runs to prep for upcoming ultra.

Depends on where you’re starting. I’m usually in the C corral for the CCC. There are definitely some walkers/slower runners that sneak in but I’m usually way clear of them by the turn onto Decatur.
The worst race in New Orleans for congestion is the Turkey Day race. No actual corrals and a narrow road for the start. Thankfully I never “race” that race.

The cherry on top is when you give them an “on your left” and you pass them close (because they hardly ever move and that’s the only way to get around them) and they all turn and look at you and appear to be offended that you would dare break up their morning social stroll.
