Which Vaporflys? I found the 2s to be great for longer races, but prefer the 3s for 10k and below

You'd probably be fine in vaporflys. We were running in some wonky arse flats about 15 years ago, vaporflys are better than any of those.

See how they are for a long run, you may like em just fine. They were just a bit too bouncy for me for long runs. I also like the Alphaflys for half & full marathons

They're a marathon shoe. I would go with the Streakfly for 5k distance. Avoid long term training in the shoes. They are a cheat shoe 100% and should not be used for anything other than putting a fast race time down.

they still makes these. current model is 10, i have have the 8. its a good shoe for speed work intervals, but pretty narrow in toe box.

ordered evo sl yesterday. will report back after weekend.

vaporfly 2 is great shoe for marathon also think adios pro 3 would do well.

race day is for racing, fun can be had once the race is over. i don't pay registration fee to run for fun

2m @ 10:11
1m @ 8:21
Tried a mile in some new trail shoes Altra timp5.
Been doing all my running in altra fwd 4mm drop and swapping to zero drop timp 5. Anyone swap back and forth between 4mm to zero drop. I have been wearing lone peaks zero drop for casual wear and work for over a year now so not completely new to zero drop.

Eh, worth trying but even elites prefer running short distance in VF2/3. Agree somewhat they should be reserved for racing…caveat is you have to know you can run the distance with no issue in them. I always get at least one long run workout in my race shoes when training.

Let us know what you think KS. These have gotten so much hype. I’m in shoe purgatory right now. My Diadoras and Rebel v3 are wearing out, haven’t loved my Topo Specter so may let those go, my dad gave me a pair of Brooks Ghost Max he didn’t like so will try those. If I could find something that feels exactly like the Rebel v3 but with 5-7mm more stack that would be the perfect shoe.

I bought mine today

I'll either do speed work in them tomorrow or my long run with pace miles in them on Saturday

I'll report back as well on how they feel.

Will break-in my Pros in 2 1/2 weeks at a 5k then probably switch to the Evos or my Hyperion Max for another 15 miles after.

Yeah, that's the biggest reason I pace - because I don't pay anything and get to experience a Marathon as a "fun" event instead of stressing about it.

I have to race though, at least twice a year so far, it's just in my veins

So far they are amazing - about to do my speed work in them.

Speaking of speed work - I was thinking about doing 7 1k repeats, is that too much? Should I drop that down to 5 in order to reduce injury risk or is 7 ok for 1k repeats?

I've done up to 10 x 1km with 60 seconds rest. Just make sure you're doing them at threshold pace and you'll be fine.

call it a miracle I guess.. once ran a 10k full throttle no recovery breaks and i survived with no injuries. no reason you can't hit 10 repeats at threshold pace. if you get to 7-8 and can no longer hold threshold call it good for the day.

hyperion max - are you asking about V1 or V2? i think they really changed b/w the two. I had V1. very firm until it broke in and then i enjoyed it. put almost 500 miles on them which is rare for me

You guys like gels or chews better and domost people wear a belt to carry this stuff? Also how long does the run need to be for them to even be needed

you gonna get a lot of varying opinions on how many / often you should use a gel. Some people stick with every 45 min some stick to specific calorie or carbs per hour. too much and its probably gonna come back up not enough and you may bonk. unless its ultra distance i'm just gonna use gel. preferred brand currently is hammer and then honey stinger. ANything under 2 hours I not using anything except maybe water and that will be temp dependent. Marathon distance I probably take 3 maybe a 4th.

Most shorts now have zipper pocket in back that can easily carry what you'll need in training run or use a hand held water bottle.

In all the shoes I’ve run in this is the only shoe I was unable to tolerate. It gave me pain so bad I. The anterior compartment of my leg I could barely walk the next day. Unfortunately took me several runs to make the connection.

Max 1 or Max 2?

I actually just ordered some Cloudmonster Hypers on sale. Was kind of panned in reviews, but mainly bc of the price vs what you get. I liked the Cloudmonster, the Hyper sounds like it could work well for me.
