Got a late start with the group because of shitty BR traffic. Run felt way worse than yesterday and I spent about 4 of my 5 miles on that previous run talking with another runner.

Did 5 miles downtown last night. 11min miles. Hot, humid, oppressive. Awful.

Didn’t get under my somewhat goal or sub 8 or 24mins but overall was satisfied with how it turned out. And managed to somewhat stick to the plan I had and executed it.

This is not racing weather. Did 8 this morning averaging 171 HR and 7:45 pace. I haven't sweat this much ever.

That pace in this weather is really good. Is definitely be happy with that.
Did 13.25 this AM. It was a little cooler today, but got blazing at the end. Did 10 miles at 140 HR. The last 3 at 160+. Physically feel fine, but damn it’s hot.

I did 15 this morning, 10:35 pace.
Longest I've run since the marathon and it was after I took a week off for vacation. I'm happy about it, also just kinda disappointed how far I've fallen

Yeah it didn’t bother me cus I have been working out and running mid day all year, at least it didn’t feel bad.
Thinking about maybe trying to run a half in Oct, gonna talk to my buddy and see what he says but. What would the board say is the best sort of program to start to prep for a half for someone who hasn’t run one?
5k time of 25.05 run 15-20miles a week currently but have never ran farther than 5 miles. Have rucked 12 miles with weights.

Anyone doing the Cajunman tri? Anyone have experience with it ?
Posted on 8/4/24 at 7:26 pm to REG861
I’ve done it before. Fun but it’s usually hot as hell
Posted on 8/5/24 at 12:44 pm to Walter White Jr
5x .25mile intervals at 7:30ish pace
Total mileage 3 miles
In case anyone is wondering it is hot.

That’s a great pace in this heat.

Thanks
48 yr old and it was my very first race so a ton of things learned and can’t wait to go race another one just to build on that one as well as prepping for a farther distance.
One thing I think has definitely helped me is having been doing HIT/running all year outside during lunch break.
My Garmin says I’m 100% acclimated to heat.
Posted on 8/6/24 at 7:24 am to Ol boy
Starting HIIT a year ago has brought my mile time down significantly. That said, I’m 47 and my last 5k in this heat was @ 7:39. (10k PR is 7:22, 5k PR is 7:18, and 1 mile PR is 6:47). But I don’t think I’ll ever get acclimated to running in the heat.

On top of my lack of sleep recently, I think I'm hitting a negative in my training. The heat is unbearable, especially with a jogging stroller.

a piece of my "Fall Goals" is coming to - my biggest goal pre-100 miler has been to lose 15-20 pounds (if I can) because... who doesn't want to lose an extra 20 pounds they don't have to carry for 24 hours?!
As of this morning I have lost about 4 pounds
Also, everyone in this thread, we are not worthy:

Based off the dude's appearance, I'm not sure I believe any of that.
