Long run was this morning, 11 miles. Overall time was 1:34:16, with mile 1 being my slowest (9:17) and mile 4 being my fastest (8:23). There were a couple of hills but nothing backbreaking.

At this point I feel like I could have continued another 2 miles to come a half, so mentally I am in the right place.

13.1 miles this morning. Still haven’t fired up the Fenix 3 so not sure on exact pace. It was slow and Ole Hal wanted me to race a half marathon. Decided to continue the slow long run. I feel GREAT afterwards. Last Saturday the 15 miler ruined me the rest of the day but I could do anything right now. Not phased at all besides the expected wear and tear from a long run.

Nice. Schedule with kids doesn’t permit me to get too many of those these days unless shoes are hitting pavement by 4:30.

3 mile run in humidity and rain the morning. Had to get back quick to get kids to sports. As soon as we got into the car they cancelled all games.

It’s now a perfect 69 out there and no rain.

Yeah I started at 5am. It was already 73 degrees outside though.

4 miles (8:00 mi) at 12:00 today. 87 degrees is still too hot to run in. Took a cold shower after and I'm still having a hard time getting my body temp back down.

Damn. Everyone is getting these awesome long runs in right now.

I missed my long run this morning due to rain. I’ll run in light rain, but not heavy rain. I don’t seek misery that much.

Anyways... good job guys. I’ll get my running in this afternoon in the form of a few hours of basketball.

The funny thing is, if I played basketball like you do for as long, I’d be wheezing the entire time. :rotfl:

Cut back week so only did 6 for my "long" run today (18 for the week). Temps were in the 70s and humidity wasnt horrible. The cut back on mileage and the weather made it such a nice run. Looking forward to fall showing up.

Most mileage in a week I've ever done. Race is 2 weeks from today.

M: OFF
Tues: 7 (fast on road) suppose to be 9 but my son's practice got cut short. BOOOOOOO!!!!!
Wed: 12 (Road)
Thurs:9 (Road)
Fri: OFF
Sat: 23 (Lakefront Grass) 3L of fluids using Tailwind (400 cal) and 1 Orange. Not nearly enough. Bonked hard at 20. Out of fluid and nutrition. It was a rough final 3 miles. Lesson learned.
Sun: 11 (Spillway trail with friends). Maybe the best run of the whole training block. Fast.

Total: 62 miles

On to the taper. I pretty much have done all I can to prepare for this race. I ran in 98 degree sun filled day (only run I regret), trail runs, high dew soaked grass, rain, morning, noon, evening. I did not miss a workout since late July. I hope its enough.

That’s awesome, good luck on your 50K

That’s a ton of hydration to me, I don’t know if I should be trying to force down liquids or what but I struggle to get down 20 ounces and don’t feel thirsty during my runs

Ran several halves without consuming any hydration til the end of the race. Plan to force some down during my full because I don’t know how my body will respond to that mileage but can’t imagine consuming more than like 30-40 ounces

So I finally put on the Garmin...here's what I've learned about my 4 mile Monday run (sorry for the large images):

VO2 Max: 45

Any thoughts on these numbers?

Question about the Garmin Fenix 3:

Is the "pace" at the bottom of the screen mid-run accurate? Is it supposed to fluctuate like crazy? It messed up my pacing for most of the run. I started at an 11 minute pace and sped up to 9:30 then suddenly it said 7:59 and I slowed down to 10:46, but that was on a hill. Finished the first mile around 10:15. I figured it was something wrong with me so I just pumped my legs the second mile and finished at a 8:47 pace though it still fluctuated throughout the run. Was pretty tired after that one and ran what I thought was slow but was still actually around a 10 minute pace.

Should I just ignore that pace tracker and wait for the mile updates?

Yup. And then you’ll get to the point where you can ignore those and run by feel.

Hey hog, looked at the weather for Sunday 15k, gonna be a hot one.
