TThat meant he ran 15 miles and biked 38 miles a day between Monday and Wednesday. I guess some really are more dedicated.

this is doable:

Mon: run 10
Tues: bike 20
Wed: run 10
Thurs: bike 20
Fri: run 10
Sat: ride 40/brick run 10
Sun: ride 40/brick run 10

or

Sat: ride 80
Sun: run 20

jkylejohnson ,

That's an interesting/perfect date for for my Woodlands Full (March,2021) prep.

My coach supports me running events anytime I can to learn the intricacies of the sport ( pacing , fuel, mistakes, strengths ) and he will eventually use one to "break" me mentally and get me to believe in my training vs being mentally scared/weak.

Nobody is 100% sure the Houston Chevron will be approved so a bunch of Houston area people will need a race that weekend.

The runs could be real I guess. He’s slower than molasses for his age. The bikes? Nah man. You guys peaked my interest and I took a look at a couple. Averaging 23mph on a 50 mile ride is close to professional level. Maybe sharing an account or a red herring.

rsande63,

Have you done a marathon before ? Being my first one I think the goal will just be finishing. Who knows if I get semi serious with training i may could get a little more comfortable pushing a better pace for that distance.

jkylejohnson,

I'm a newer runner and my 1st full will be in November.

Like most 1st time people I want to finish & not end up like a walking , huffing, jackass with a 5:15:00 time.

Not professional. It's a very good rider. Top 15-20% of the age group leaders in a Half iron are in that range on a flat course. That's about a 2:25:00 time.

Pro Triathletes are hitting 27-30mph on a similar course.

If he's in a group ride, drafting and take turns pulling, that is really doable. I'm an average rider and in a group ride we average 20-22 over 60 miles on a regular Saturday ride.

I appreciate a good “well actually” I was just going off what google told me which was about 25mph on a flat course...

Edit: All dudes bikes are on Zwift. So there is no drafting, there is only zuul.

My first marathon I did a lot of walking starting around mile 20. My plan included two runs of 20+ miles, so I knew I could get to that point no problem. I trained and stuck to the plan up until race day, where I started way too fast. Like 1:50 at the half, which is slightly slower than my half race pace but much faster than I trained for. I met my primary goal of finishing but was disappointed with my time. Unfortunately it only motivated me to not give up on running another one.

Rsande63, you're training will help you finish the race, just keep reminding yourself of that if doubt ever creeps in. If you need to walk, don't feel discouraged. I hit that wall hard but I didn't stop moving. I kept telling myself I didn't want a DNF and to be carried off the course on a stretcher.

I don't know why, but this made me laugh.

I haven't gotten into the zwift. I mean, I just got a garmin watch and trying to figure it out.

McVick,

Thanks man for the feedback.

After I broke my foot my Houston Full training partner & neighbor decided to start skipping his midweek runs for about 5 weeks and really didn't focus on the last couple long runs of 19 & 20....he walked/shuffled a 17:55 pace for the last 10K after starting too fast & setting a half marathon PR....he came in well over 5 hours.

He tells me every day he still feels like an idiot and everyone was handing him fruit with a look of pity on their faces. Hahah

I was even going to rent a golf cart to ride next to him so he could keep his groove for training runs. He said "I'll be fine with just Saturday morning" hahah.

It totally could be legit too. He’s a pretty good bikist, and a shite runner. Could be weight or height doping, but in actually he’s likely just another teen with too much time on his hands probably trying keep occupied. Idle hands spend time at the genitals.

What’s the run times? It seems if you’re running those distances, you would be pretty good runner too. I’d say it’s odd for that age to be putting in that much mileage too. Usually the younger cats like the shorter distances.

BRM,

I had to look up "weight or height doping" since I don't ride and I just learned about another subset of shameless losers with no life. That's stupid, disgusting, and unfair for the people that take Zwift seriously.
