Um, is there really a high schooler in the Strava group that's run 47 miles and biked 114 miles already this week? Or are we getting trolled?

Sucks to hear. I've heard Strava can be just as bad as other Social Media platforms. I guess for a slower runner with only TD followers it's not an issue. Hell I'm a Local Legend on like 4 or five routes around my house because nobody gets out on the road around here.

Has anyone ever reported bogus CR on Strava? It kind of annoys me when I am sitting in second on a segment to someone that was going 40 mph with a heart rate of 80. obviously there is some discrepancy there.

I flagged an activity on a local segment that was clearly a bike instead of a run. The activity was a couple of months old, so Strava's systems must not have detected it. By flagging it, the activity was immediately removed from that segment's leaderboard. I haven't gone back and checked, but it may have removed it pending further review.

There's a couple of segments like that around here but I've never gone through the motions to flag them. One is a 0.5 mi segment with a 1:42 KOM, and if you look at the person's run they did 18 miles in 63 minutes (3:33/mi pace). Another one is a 0.3 mi stretch with 82ft elevation gain in 37 seconds (12 mile run with 49 minute moving time/4:04mi pace).

I guess it is what it is.

It's difficult for me to get onboard with Strava's segment feature. I find difficult to find solid segments to challenge. There are fewer of them than I would have anticipated, and most are less than 0.5 miles and have a leaderboard filled with runs from 2014 to 2017. I feel like the feature should be much better and more prominent than it is. Perhaps I'm an just an idiot failing to see the obvious.

Well done. What kind of bike did you use?

This one was off-road tri.

I have a Niner Air RDO, but for road I have a custom Guru. They aren't even around anymore but their fitting system was bought by Cannondale group I think and their bike making and frame specs are now owned by a boutique in Little Rock. Allied Cycles.

I can believe it. High schooler it seems it needs to include 2 weekends just on time to do it.

TThat meant he ran 15 miles and biked 38 miles a day between Monday and Wednesday. I guess some really are more dedicated.

Did some cruise intervals yesterday in the gravel atop the levee. It's technically a driveable road leading to some fishing camps and an Industrial site, so ate my fair share of dust too. I did the workout as sort of a 10K race predictor for next weekend. And just as I thought I'm in terrible shape. Based on similar workouts for a couple 10Ks I did earlier this year, this probably puts me in ~43:00 shape. Although it was pretty warm up there yesterday at 3:00 when I did them, so heat was a factor of course. I'm fully expecting it to be my worst 10k of 2020.

Just glad to be able to walk/run at all, considering the past year. Today marks one year to the day that I was derailed with the whole carotid artery dissection and the multiple strokes that followed. Whew, been quite a year.

At the time, I thought the story was a bit much just to get out of racing me. But I have to tip my hat to you for sticking with it this long.

The look on your face coming off the Ocean Springs overpass during the 8K didn't look too preseason to me, dog!

Hey, remember when we (HB, TR, 3N, BRM) were all in the same shape? Pepperidge Farm rememberers.

Same shape... maybe.

Same abilities... no.

You and HB had to go and get yourselves all good at running and shite.

I’ve put about 7 grand on my legs since joining the thread. 3 this year. HB has talent. Who the frick can take half a year off and the decide they’re just going to run a sub 5? Not I. I have durability. I’m positive any of you could get there. You just have to leave your wife and kids.

Got to run a lot, and once or twice a week you gotta run like hell.
