Feel better brotha. Hate to hear that.
4.4 miles in 36:12 today (8:14/mile). Felt slow as hell out there on the bridge but apparently I wasn’t
I don’t know about y’all, but wind blows in my face (giggity) regardless of which direction I’m running.

I had the flu 2 weeks before Spirits 5K and still wasn’t 100% on race day. Don’t push it too hard. Let your body recover.

You are enjoying the sport appropriately.

Not kidding. I run across the bridge east to west. No wind most of the time, maybe an occasional little gust to my back. I make my turn and head back east . . . WOOSH. It was pretty strong at times and definitely consistent.
I’ve run the bridge at night three times at night now. The wind has consistently come from the east and it’s been strong. It wasn’t strong Saturday, which is nice.

I go to Charleston for work a lot and run across the Ravenel bridge maybe twice a trip. Doesn't matter which direction the wind is supposed to be blowing, I get pounded in the face non stop in both directions.

Sounds like running in downtown Birmingham. East to West: in your face. Turn and go North to South: in your face. Another turn to go West to East: in your face.

Anyone running a race in April?
Hattiesburg 1/2 on April 4. There’s also a 5k and 10k.

Bentonville Half April the 4th. Think HogBody said he was going to run it too.

I'm doing my first 5K since 2019 on April 19th...no expectations but looking forward to getting back out , meeting some new people, and having some fun.

Crescent City Classic Easter weekend Saturday. Ran my PR there last year in 41:03. Just looking to get a top 500 poster this year, which last year the cut off was around 45:00. It's a fairly big race with last year being around 14,000 runners. Raced a 10K in 43 and some change last month with maybe 3 speed workouts since September, so should be easily doable. 5K this weekend, then I'll shift into some 10K specific training till the CCC.

Not really. Wife sent me to the spare bedroom last night because of nighttime coughing. That's a first.
I ran 2 last night in the neighborhood so I could get some hills. I'm going to attempt to scale up and down 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 8, 4 (or 9, 6, 3 instead of 8, 4) between now and the race. My cardio is shot after this flu/cough thing I have.
This really kind of boils down to the fact that I need to prioritize my running over getting completely schnockered on overnight fishing trips with buddies and destroying my immune system. Getting old really sucks.

You caught the flu because it’s flu season, baw. Don’t blame the fun you had.
If you wanna go on a training run before the race, let me know.

Will do.
I’d like to run the bridge before the race just to see what it's about. We'll see.

I skipped the bridge and ran four miles in 31:57 today (7:59/mile). Fastest four mile time on the road. I think I may not run the bridge tomorrow and run a quick three instead. I need to rest my legs.
Hope y'all are all good tonight.

Nice. I only did 3 in 26:14 (8:44/mile). Had a coughing attack at just under mile 3 that kinda slowed me down and walked it in after that.
We’ll see about 6 tomorrow.
