We have an office in Columbus, OH. I hated that part of the country. ZERO elevation. Flat for as far as you could see. Being from Birmingham and living in Cahaba Heights, you get used to seeing some ups and downs. Running the ups and downs is hard, but makes a good flat race a welcome departure.

Didn't die doing my 1/2 mile sprint intervals last night. I questioned my sanity after the first one. I considered quitting after my second. After my last one, I felt better than I did after my first one. Strange.

Any time qualifiers for the NY Marathon trying to get in today? Burt?

Yeah, registration opens at noon. If they don’t take me this year with a 2:43, NYRR can suck on my arse as I’ve stated before. My goal would be the low mid 2:30s which would top 100 every year and top 50 some years depending on the weather.

Fingers crossed I guess. Considering the whole damn board ran it last year, I’d think my chances are good.

Good luck navigating the queue system. Be patient. It was a massive clusterfrick for the BK Half

They fricked it up again. When I was let in, I could only register as a fricking child. Now the non NYRR entires have reached capacity. They can eat shite, If I can't be guaranteed the first corral, it isn't worth it.

Send them an email and see what they can do. That’s fricking absurd.

Run east. Should be all downhill. Til the turnaround.

It's not just me. It seem hundreds-thousands have the same issue. I'll enter their "lotto" for the last time. I think you still get your corral based of time regardless. Right?

ETA: Several people were screwed/had the child registration issue. I think they'll find that they didn't fill all the time slots in 20 mins. Dunno, I'm thinking London or Paris 2021 now. New York was my ultimate marathon experience but if they don't want me, I don't want them. Sucks but oh well.

This queue system has fricked them over so bad. It’s absurd. But yes you’ll get in a corral based on time

In other news, pretty brutal threshold workout on some tired legs this afternoon. 3x2 mile intervals 5:45ish pace 5 min rest. Now my outside can match how I feel on the inside. Next week is a welcome break.

This makes my 4x800 at an 8ish pace with a 10 min walk/jog seem a little less fulfilling......

Thanks man. It's just a race though, I got myself a little too worked up and I'm over it now. I just needed to be a pissy little biotch for a minute.

Planning a 10K race predictor training run either tomorrow or Sat. Any suggestions?

I was thinking 5X1 Mile/2:00 Jog

Thinking about hopping in the Mardi Gras Mambo next weekend and just want to see what type of pace I can realistically run it in and not make myself too paranoid for pushing it too soon in my stroke recovery. Not looking for anywhere near a PR; just think it would do me good to get in a race. Although it will be weird not going into a race willing and planning to give my absolute best.

And sorry to hear about the NY fiasco, Burt. I know that’s your ultimate goal race.

5x1 Cruise intervals wouldn’t be a bad idea to dial in the time you’re trying to shoot for in the 10k. Plug in your mpm goal and see how it feels.

Trust me, you'll get over that quickly.

I've only run once this week. I'm fed up with the dark, damp and cold. I have zero motivation to go run in this crap. Everyone else bitches about the heat in the summer. I'd much rather run in that. That damn groundhog better not see his shadow Sunday.

Looks like my emailing with NYRR is at least going to get me into the lottery. They asked me to email my qualifying time so maybe I'll get a code instead.

In other news, hit 400 for the month which is a first. Moving tomorrow which is kind of a bummer because I'll miss a run but it's within walking distance to my new job so that's cool. Now HogBody and I will be city neighbors. Also, cramping like a mutha during yesterday's workout and this morning's run. Sucks, think I need to make an adjustment.

Good news; I'd say they can't deny ya now.
Sounds like you're staying pretty local? Is that area of Arky pretty techy or what?
