Ha, thanks brah. I’ll definitely enjoy it. In the future, I should probably wait at least 24 hours before posting a race report, so it’s not so reactive
It’s easy to get frustrated when a race doesn’t go quite like I might want, but I really am happy to just be out there running.
There’s been a lot going on in this thread this year. It’s been awesome to see a lot of people set and crush their goals. Also inspiring to see some people face and overcome injuries and major health events. You win the TD courage award this year. Glad to see you rehabbing strong.

For some of the newer runners, and seasoned veterans if you can remember, how long do you recall it taking to recover from your first half?
I’m now almost a month out from having run my first and have not had a “good” run since. Feeling more soreness in my lower legs vs training before the race. So far the longest I’ve run since the race was 6 miles and both times it was a struggle.

Maybe two weeks to fully recover. Longest I had run before my first half was 10 miles. It definitely wasn’t a month though.

Jordan,
I had same experience as kballa6..I went from sloth on a couch to a half marathon and was feeling great after about a week or so. Granted, my time and performance was pathetic but I finished.
My second was a couple months later and I set out for a recovery run two days after the half and actually set a 10K PR.

Within the 1st month of my first Half I ran another and a 10 miler race wise, so definitely didn’t take me a month to recover. This overall probably wasn’t the best approach but I’m pretty sure I ran the next day after my first HM also. Sounds like you may have an injury?

Got around to weighing myself for the first time in a couple of years. Weighed in six or so pounds less than my normal, steady weight. I need to figure out how to gain some weight while continuing to run. I don't currently take any supplements and eat everything in sight. I'm thinking I need to consider the addition of some whey protean to my diet. If I do start taking whey protein, I need some clarification as to the best time of day to do so. Anyone have a similar story or recommendations?
Just curious, if you just weighed in for the first time in years, why do you think you need to gain weight? Maybe this is your new normal steady weight.
But if it's weight you want, I'd be happy to trade you about 12 pounds.

Hmm...I don’t think I have an injury. It’s not any sort of pain, just a little more sore than I recall. I do admit I slacked off on daily foam rolling, so that could be a part of it. Also think the oppressive humidity this weekend made my Sunday morning run a bit tougher than usual. I’m gonna keep at it, maybe slow down a bit too. I was training at 9/9:30 pace, my avg pace for the half was 8:30, and my last 4 runs have been 8:30/9 pace. Think I’m going too fast.
I was hoping to run the Rock’n Roll in two months, but now considering sitting it out since I just don’t feel strong.

Did some number crunching for fun for the group on the year. I did this all by hand from phone to excel (yes i know i could have from the site but phone was quicker to go back and forth) so there could be some errors in here of course..
First and foremost, the group did 52845 miles. probably will be pretty close to 53000 by EOD tomorrow.
We topped out 10000 miles a week!!!
Here's the top 10 list for the year. Burt of course dominating.
One surprise was that we have some beast ladies out there that made the top 10 and we had 24 total runners that made it to the 1k club
I'm just throwing out initials for the usernames i don't know. Ladies are bolded

I now weigh 142 Lbs.
Seriously though, I need to gain weight for if or when I increase my mileage any over the next year. Feel like I could benefit some from having some extra muscle and fat. Also, I really don't want to wither away.

He might as well pick up a newspaper route and make some money while he's at it.

Thanks for putting the info together. 9 more miles and I’ll hit 1400. Guess I’ll see what I have in me tomorrow.

I looked it up after you posted and saw I was at 996. I couldn’t not go for a run this evening to break 1,000.

I’m proud to have made the top 10. I may run slower but I run a lot. It’s therapeutic for me and with two toddlers it’s needed.
Finished out the year with a little over 4 miles this morning. I had a really crappy 20 this Sunday. Set out for 23 and knew after 5 I wasn’t going to get there. Hungover, raining, legs felt tired, you name it and I felt it. Somehow got through 20 even though my time sucked. Now to taper before Jan 19.

It's not all it's cracked up to be. All you get is a heavily used aTm 12th man towel from 3nOut. Took several washes to get mine from sticking to itself.

Hey hey hey.
I thought all rivalry talk ended at the link to this thread. That towel was made sticky with TLC.
My parents actually own a trophy shop. If I were closer to them, I’d ask them to make one.
I did the SECRant FF league for a year and I was going to make a trophy to go around to the winner but they disbanded it after I won in disgusting fashion.
