Just run the NOLA Turkey Day 5 miler?

For anyone interested, in one week my two week taper starts for the marathon. It’s pretty similar to my half taper in the final week.
Two weeks out. Cut the 2 a days but keep a fartlek and tempo long run tops at 15 max. 50-60 mi total
Week of: Monday off, Tuesday cruise intervals, Wednesday Easy 1:10 max (about 9 for me), Thursday off, Friday 5 mile shake out, Saturday race.
Race day goal? Break 3 first of course. Anything under 2:50 would be great. I’m in 2:42-2:45 shape but that would take everything going right and perfect race conditions which almost never happens. Cheers.

What type of course are you running on?

Oh man. You'll smoke 3hrs. Hard to picture you not going sub 2:50:00.
What shoes you wearing?

Reebok Floatride Run Fast.

Nice. Interested to hear how they work for you. I have not taken mine over 10 miles.

You have the Run Fast or the Floatride Energy?

BRM,
Wednesday Easy 1:10--> Do you value/need this run more than a race week rest day?
Or does that run, for someone at your level, not impact freshness at all for Saturday?

Run fast. I didn't wear them for my recent half bc I was nervous the grip would become an issue if I got tired and stopped getting good knee lift. I wore the Adios 4 instead.

I both value it and it doesn’t affect me because it’s at an easy pace. It’s a keep the engine primed type of thing. Physiologically there probably not a big difference in running it or skipping it. Most of race week preparation is mental anyway.
Some cats taper and just don’t run for two weeks. That will definitely hurt instead of help. For me more active race week > less active.

Thanks,
I have 2 halfs in my plan for the Houston full.
I'll play around with rest/activity to really start learning what works.
Houston Half: Took 3 days off , no running
College Station (early December): I'll try some easy activity

People in my neck of the woods really like that one.
Had a nice 27 degree run today. Little chillier than I like but feels good man.

3nOut,
Thought about signing up and running it ?
I've also heard everyone loves it.

i don't really love long road races or huge races.
an occasional 5k is fine, but i've done 2 road half marathons and didn't really enjoy them, so most likely not.
a lot of that has to do with me being a fatty. i can move for 3 miles pretty quick and can endure a long trail run, where i know i'm not going to be judged for walking.

Alright boys. Let’s wreck some shite this weekend.

21:10! PR! Had to expend way too much energy at the start to get around people so I slowed at the end. But still pleased!

Congrats!!
Heading out for a 10 mile run in a bit, not looking forward to it

First attempt at trying to manage a 5K instead of just running it. The first 1.5 miles was all up hill and the last 1.5 was mostly downhill. Decided to try a 9ish pace on the front and 8ish on the back. I need a better way to track my pace.
I managed a 9:44, 8:59, and finished with an 8:21 mile. Happy with the last mile, but need to quicken the pace on the first two. Overall happy with my first attempt at management. Certainly felt better at the end of the race than normal.

Pace management is so damn hard. I’m usually very similar. Out slow and finish with way too much energy left. Today I went too far the opposite direction. Hard to find that middle ground.
