This describes me, sans the beast part. lol.

I think I'll be ready to start training for the Snowbowl 15k, by Monday.

The Missoula Marathon on Sunday was so awesome. I have the bug for that distance +, now.

I was amazed at how the miles churned. I had run that distance only once before in my 44 years, and that was last Sept when I f'ed up my post tib.

I'm a poster boy for how NOT to train. It's mostly due to lack of time, not willpower or desire. But I just stayed in my low aerobic HR zone for the race and actually sprinted at the end just for fun (I got some laughs and cheers, because I was passing girls and grinning). I finished in 4:26-something. I put 4:30 as estimate when i registered.

My only real goal was to finish without walking, and I did that. Only stops were two quick pees during first half, because I don't know how to regulate hydration.

I'm ready to hit the trails and hills now. I have about a month before the SnowBowl.

There's a quick 1600ft climb right behind my house I'm going to try to do several times a week + run the actual course and some other mountain trails.

Goal is to just do better than last year (my goal then was top 50% of men, which I met without any margin for error).

I don’t know about that last line but I’ll definitely try and post more in here.

I did a 4 mile race this morning in 22:31 (official time) for first. Had a 2 mile warm up and cool down to go with it.

Had splits on my watch at 5:22, 5:40, 5:35, 5:41. One of the kids I coach went out with me for the first mile and a half and then I was alone after that.

Did an 8 mile recovery yesterday morning at 56:50

7:32, 7:22, 7:13, 7:12, 6:52, 6:52, 6:54, 6:47

Tuesday was a workout: 2 mile warmup 6 x 3:00 hard 1:00 recovery 2 mile cool down

Monday was kinda wonky since I’m coaching this 10k training group for our local fleet feet. Was supposed to go 7 so I thought I’d go for 4 more after our groups 3 mile run. Well I got through the 3 running at like 14:00 minute pace with one of our guys who’s quite a bit over weight and went out again after. Only made it 2 miles before I said frick it and walked back . It was like 93 degrees or so still and I just wasn’t feelin it.

Nice work. Are you on Strava?

I had my first speed work out in a couple weeks yesterday, hit the track. The Garmin I have doesn't automatically link with my Daniels VDOT training plan, so I have to manually save the workout to a file on my CPU and upload it to Garmin, etc... Long story short my intervals/jog rest were all f'd up and it threw me off, caused un necessary stress, etc. 105F feels like along with that made it pretty shitty.

Looks like some 200/400 Reps on the books for next week, gonna get a better handle on the sync up before then I hope.

Got in a recovery 10K this am as my plan had a 6 mile easy run anyway.

Nah I just use my garmin 45 and the connect app to cross check everything when I need to. I need to figure out if I can set intervals on this thing or not. Would be nice to use from time to time.

Solid work to you to dude.

Running Warehouse seems to be having a hell of a clearance sale right now. Just got three pairs of running shorts and a pair of mittens for 56 all in, free 2 day shipping and no tax.

I ran the freedom mile downtown July 4. Ran right over 6.

Thinking back now I'm questioning if I had just a few seconds somewhere along the run or if a sooner kick would have helped. Was a great time though!

Fastish finish long run. Best I’ve felt all week. This week I’m off then back to the big miles, well, big miles for me. Man what a difference a year makes! Y’all struggling with your first summer running, the next summer is cake in comparison. Just don’t quit!

Yeah, I had a decent long run/quality session this am... or so I thought till I looked at your run. Geeez man, you are clicking! Love it.

I’ve got 2/18 weeks down of the plan so far without a run missed. Not expecting to maintain that with family/work, etc. but the quality sessions will be there. The main reason I went with 2Q. If I miss runs they will be easy, the 2Q’s a week should be doable under any unforeseens.

Half goal is 01:30 in October. No clue on the full. Planning to either do La in Jan or The Woodlands in March. 3:15 as a pretty lofty goal I’d imagine but honestly haven’t even really considered what will go into the training for that, so may end up shooting for more like 3:30.

TigeRoots,

My neighbor loves The Woodlands marathon and uses it yearly to qualify for the NYC Marathon. He always talks of how flat & fast it is due to the trees providing shade and blocking wind.

All their advertisements show the % of Boston qualifiers compared to other races in the country.

I ran the half this year & live right by it ..if you are looking for scenery and beauty, look somewhere else haha..long straight roads, big houses , and big trees but nothing else.

Dude, I am fairly certain I know who you are now. I'm pretty sure you might be the only ULM fan in Wichita. I'm pretty sure I am the only Bama fan in the Wichita Fleet Feet group.

I've been following the thread for a little while now and it was driving me nuts trying to figure out who the other person that runs in ICT that also posts on TD too.

Small world. Just so all the rest of you know, no I'm not the 14:00 miler. I am overweight. Working on it though.

Fall Marathon, correct? Goal?

Yeah man, it looks like the ideal race conditions (Woodlands). My wife grew up in Spring and her Mom and Step Dad still live there, so it would be relatively easy, logistically. That said, not sure I want to travel anywhere further than BR for my first one in case shite goes wrong.

Yeah, November the 23rd. 2:49:59 which might be sandbagging but might be impossible too. I don’t know how my body will respond to that many miles in a row.

Based on past times for this marathon, I’ll go with the lead group and see from there.

Fall/spring racing season 19/20 goals are now.

16:45 5k
Sub 35 10k
Sub 28 8k
1:17 half
Sub 54 15k

I might be sub 17 right now (5k) but won’t find out until September.

Man y'all are killing it! I need to get back in the groove. Marathon season will be back before I know it...and I have been slacking on my run (both longs and speed) Saturday just did a 10k in 51:04 to get some in. Feel like a lot of my runs don't have much of a purpose lately. Just trying to maintain base/fitness

Hi All. Hope everyone has been well. Just checking back in, haven't ran much at all in the past 2 months. Actually took up CycleBar classes (was hesitant at first, but my wife does them all the time and got me signed up). I've actually enjoyed them and keep in good shape and met some decent people--who also run too.

Decided after the 4th to sign up for the Vegas Full Marathon this year so started back running as of today. Got in 4 miles, more than I thought I would do just back but the weather was great and had this view.

Will probably find a good plan and start that next week to get me ready for the marathon.

Will keep checking in to this thread and see how it goes. Will start back with my pictures too during my travels if it doesn't get to annoying for everyone.

Also--any good suggestions for a full marathon program out there?
