You think we should do a calendar? Might sell with the ladies of the OT and all those thirsty closet gays on the poli board.

Based on this week's activity, no calendar or shirtless running for me...

Using feedback from here, which I sincerely appreciate, I'm closing in on my 2nd week in a row with 30+ miles. Mentally, since my half program capped at 23, I was apprehensive at first.

It has been enjoyable and I have seen enough improvements to bump my 2019 mileage goal from 1,000 to 1,500. I will have a strong fighting chance with a solid summer + my full marathon training which begins in August. ( Houston Chevron, 1/20/20 )

22:02 on the 3.18 mile race. Won my age group and got 16th overall. Not bad considering I played basketball for 2 hours before the race and had a couple pre race beers.

I’ll take it.

Your killing is so far this year, especially of late. You'll find out through trial and error what your weekly thresshold is. If your legs can handle 30+ a week, and you enjoy the time on your feet, then don't cap it based on a plan.

I skipped the local 10k. Kinda regret it because a sub 50 would have been an easy top 10. Did do a trail run where I started out in a bit of pain but felt great by the end.

Dude from here that kicked my arse at the half 2 weeks ago did the San Felipe shootout today.

Pretty salty.

7:30am Start of 5k
8:30am Start of 10k
10:30am Start 13.1 Half Marathon

He did an 18:40 5k, 40:00 10k, and 1:43 half.

Didn’t win any individual but got top 3 in all races.

I think I’d enjoy it but I know I’d be dead mile 6 of the half.

I’ll challenge anybody to a 100m 200m 400m though.

Texas has a lot of fun races if you’re into trail running and don’t mind travel. There’s at least 3 a month every month between Xterra, TROT, Spectrum, and Tejas.

I'd like to think I'm a pretty hardcore runner but this

quote:

7:30am Start of 5k 8:30am Start of 10k 10:30am Start 13.1 Half Marathon

Tomorrow's plan calls for a 2 hour fast finish long run. That'd be about 17 miles 6 days out from my race? LOL no. Ima do 12 easy to stay loose for Tuesday's race pace prep run.

Same group that did the .5 mile out and back course for 72 hours.

We’re trail runners. We aren’t fast and we do weird stuff. And shite in the woods.

Deal with it.

What plan did you end up tapering around?

Race goal?

I don’t know what the deal is, but I’ve had to stop and poop on maybe one long road run ever. And I do a whole lot of road miles.

Probably a quarter of my miles are on trails but I’d wager I poop on 1/3 of them. It’s a lot like deer hunting. If I hunt over 3 days there will be a poop unquestionably. there’s just something about being in nature that stirs my bowels.

I’m already in trouble for my running mate tricking my wife into agreeing to the 50k. Never mind doing a half or 50k June 1st. Maybe Rogers doesn’t get as hot but that would be miserable in TX.

Oh no, it's miserable here too about that time. Nothing like being on the verge of fricking dying to make you really feel alive.

@ TR I'm doing my own taper. The McMillan plan that I was loosely following wanted a Sunday fast finish (build to marathon pace hold it for about 8 miles then finish the last 4 at race pace), Monday off, Then a cruise interval workout on Tuesday, easy Wednesday, Fartlek Thursday, off Friday.

I'm doing in place of those, 12 easy Sun, Monday off, 4 cruise interval Tuesday, hour easy Wednesday, off Thursday, five miles on Friday, race.

Basically I do a two week taper: week one keep the workouts cut the miles; week two dial in the pace keep it loose. Biologically it takes about 8 or so days for a speed workout to benefit your training. So if you're doing speed the week of, what's the point if your goal race is the same week?

Good info on taking 8 days to get a speedwork benefit...I'm going to use that info when picking a plan..didnt have a clue.
