Already faster than my wife who’s been on a half marathon plan since November.

Wind and rain was a bummer but I got a workout in. Knee was fine; seems like the IT soreness migrated to thigh. I’ll take it.

Any recommendations for places to get shoes? My running partner couldn’t believe I was in my son’s old Nike’s for the half. I guess I better get a pair before the rock n roll

What would you attribute this to? Fuel, hydration, etc? Lungs or legs?

Run repeat usually has links to the cheapest purchase price online. Check out tOfficial shoe thread for insight to what the site is wearing.

RR has a lot of reviews too, but they tend to be kinda inaccurate IMO.

Officially registered for the Mardi Gras Mambo 15K on 2/16 in downtown BR. I'm diggin' the 8:30 start time. Goal is sub 01:10:00.

Good luck! Spring race season is upon us. I love 15k, it’s my favorite race distance by far.

Yup Yup! I need to hop in a 5K after this to see what I can do. I looked myself up on some kind of race tracking website and saw that I ran one in 22:30 a few years back (Corporate Cup, a race in downtown BR centered around area businesses). I reckon that's my current PR. I just find it tough to pay $50 dollars and drive 30 minutes or whatever just to run 3 miles when I can bust out the door and be back in 20 minutes and do the same thing. Although the endorphin release on race day is second to none, no matter the distance.

What do you have in your sights coming up?

Fiddy is steep! Yeah, screw that. 8k Feb 9th, 10k in March, half at the end of March then break for April.

I won’t get my next 5k until May.

Not to stroke your ego Burt, but you been absolutely killing your training runs. I've been catching myself showing my wife my phone and saying "look at this a-hole".

ETA: I just looked at our side-by-side comparison on Strava for a good laugh. Over the past 4 weeks, you averaged nearly 4 miles a week more than me, but managed to run 25 minutes less than me. Amazing work man.

Thank man! I was in severe overtraining towards the end of the year. Taking that two weeks to cut miles and reset brought me back refreshed and really feeling it.

I have another reset scheduled for April. I think we forget how much faster we can all be when we back of every once in a while and let our body heal.

Thanks again and I’m not sure it’ll effect my ego any. Running fast in training don’t mean shite if you lay a turd on race day.

Which I’ve yet to see you do.

Had a very slow 7 mile plod in San Antonio this morning. Got in late last night in driving rain and wasn’t really feeling it.

reset

What's your approach here? Just easy runs/no work outs? Reduction in mileage?

Pretty sure I reset without intention pretty often as my weekly mileage varies between 20-35 here lately depending on life outside of running.

I'll be there. You should do it. You can finish then watch me struggle across the line a beer or two later.

Cut miles by halfish keep one workout. Cross train using the bike on off days. I normally run 6 days a week, so when I cut my miles, I’m doing 4.

01:41:20 official. About an 8:30 PR. Looks like thib got me by a few mins. Good stuff, can’t feel my frickin hands.

Dang, we must have been running pretty close to each other. My official time was 1:41:12. Not my best, but far from my worst too.

Trying to get back into this running thing after a bad 2018. Was in the best shape of my life in fall 2017, and the wheels came off last year. No injury, just burnout. Now I just want my pants to fit right.
