I always used Hal Higdons Intermediate plans as a guide. I’m not one to follow things perfectly, so I would always adjust.

I know I did some big weeks (60-70 miles) a few times. That certainly isn’t needed though. I just had the time and liked running.

Time is what is so hard to come by these days.

11 miles this morning.

30 miles last week and will go for 31 miles next week.

I’m surprised at what my body has been able to do these past few weeks. Six days of running per week and now throwing in strength training. Last marathon cycle I struggled to complete my five days of running per week. Six days has been tough mentally, but I’m no candy arse. I’ve gotten up and laced the shoes even on as little as two hours of sleep.

I feel good and strong. Praying for no injuries but I can tell that if I can keep this up, I’ll be a totally different runner by Chicago.

I ran at almost every opportunity this week except for my Saturday morning run and am going to hit right at 30. That’s with 5,6, and 8 mile runs. Life of a parent.

Big ole upvotes for the running parents. Don't know how you all do it but I respect the hell out of you.

My son just turned 3 months today, so yeah different world here. Max weeks since then have been about 35. Not sure where I would find time to do more to allow for Marathon training.

I know everyone was worried about ole ECB's bowels and running yesterday. Well, I held out OK for the full 18 miles, but I felt nauseated towards the end and frankly don't feel 100% today. Maybe about 85% stomach condition.

Otherwise, I tired out pretty badly towards the end and this upcoming marathon will not be easy. I think I need to adjust my time expectations.

I ran a 10k yesterday in just sub 46. was pleased with that. Then I did one of those cycling classes today for a friend who's running for a charity in the NY Half this year, and holy frick my legs are death. Never again.

5 & 3 year old here. No respect needed, you just do the work at the best time for family....which is never the best time for you. Ha!

I have a 12 and 9 YO. It’s easier now than it would have been at that stage but I do have to get creative.

I have a unique situation of working from home and travel. I can do whatever I want workout wise as long as I’m home to either get my kid ready/take/or see him off to school by 7:15 on TThF. On MW I just have to be at my house upstairs regardless (of sweat state) by 8 AM for a morning call.

My kids have practice for sports 3 days a week that I’m not sitting around for. Then my oldest has church Wednesday nights and I have 2 hours to kill.

Then travel usually has me ending work around 4-6 with an evening to kill.

So I have to work to find it in a way that doesn’t hurt home life. There’s probably 2 hours every month that my family would miss otherwise seeing me during waking hours.

Yeah I did the traveling gig for years before this job. My wife still has a set up similar to yours and what I used to have also. Wish I would have been into running back then, summers in Alaska, Wyoming, Midwest, all over the country.

Now I work shift work with a decent amount of overtime, so really no flexibility at all. 12 hours at work turn into 14 away from home with an hour commute each way. Bleh. Big Url isn't concerned with my weekly mileage for sure... haha... #suckitup

Roots you better get 10k tomorrow if you want that sweet Lulu gear.

Wrapped up today with a fast 2.5. Set my “Strava” record. Sad that Strava has my fastest mile at 6:57 when I’ve clocked some 5:50s via garmin.

Man some days are so much better than others

Got in my 10 miles today at 7:01 pace, average HR of 155, felt fantastic

Back on Tuesday I struggled to get 6 miles at 7:07 pace, average HR of 160, felt awful

Lululemon. Worth getting. It’s most likely a 20% off coupon but it’s been a free shirt or shorts in the past.

The back half today at the Disney Marathon got rough but I knew I was on that PR cusp. Gutted it out and came up with a PR by :25.

Glad the season is over and looking forward to riding, swimming and strength training a lot more

Thanks..I drank too much yesterday and woke up with a million excuses. Thought I’d cruise the first half and see what I could do on the back half. Right at the halfway point I had the 3:50 pace group within like 200’ so I just kinda kept up with them. My previous PR was 3:51:33 and I knew my family was going to be waiting for me about .25 from the finish line. The last twenty minutes or so I was going back and forth between stopping for a kiss or not but I knew it was gonna be close but I didn’t know it would be that close. I passed on the kisses and hugs and opted for the PR and thankfully they understood.
