is it uncouth to run the strip in the morning? i always thought that was an iconic thing we were supposed to do.

Nah, I just remember when I first moved here in 2005, as a youngster fresh out of college I would hit the strip often and remember hating those runners at 6am as I was stumbling out.

Now at 38, I might go to the strip twice a year. I would probably run it too in the morning now. Haha.

i go there every year for a conference. hate it. no offense to Vegas, but even though it's at the Cosmopolitan, i just don't enjoy the Vegas night life or style. sure it's different for you as a townie.

Yeah, I'm flying back tonight for CES tomorrow and Friday and dinner with clients on the strip. Im already dreading it. Strip isnt for me anymore.

But I love Vegas, outside of the strip. Now Fremont can be fun.

I’ll be there for a tech conference as well.

Not to sound stalkery but if you’re in town and want to hit a run, I’m open. No homo. My feelings aren’t hurt if that’s not your thing.

I’m thinking about catching a really early flight and renting a car and going out to red rock Monday since I don’t have to be anywhere till 2.

I guess this.

Honestly I have one main goal: get faster without getting injured. But I have noticed that I’ve gotten skinny fat. I’m smaller and a bit lighter but I just look pudgy. I also feel weak outside of being able to run long distance.

I’m thinking I’m just going to start with a two day split but keep it lighter than when I was lifting heavy in the past. See how that goes.

On a related but lesser scale, the Myrtle Beach strip / Pavillion area was awesome to me.....when I was in high school. As I aged, I frequented it less, and now that I am in my 50's, I couldn't imagine wanting to go hang out there again.

Got 4 miles in this morning around 10:30 pace... But there's no evidence because my Garmin didn't save it.

I’ve been considering a mixup with mine. It sounds odd to say, but I’m thinking I have too much upper body muscle mass. Not that I can’t get faster anyway, but it just could potentially be easier.

You can go into Strava and manually log in your run, if that helps at all

Ok, fellow runners, I'm T minus one month from a marathon.
Any nutrition, etc suggestions during this time leading up to the race?
My sister says to begin drinking lots of water, about 32-64 ounces a day.
What about vitamins, etc? I typically take no vitamins or medications.

Don’t do anything new. You should be drinking lots of water anyway and nutritionally, you aren’t going to do much now that will benefit you in a month unless your diet has been really poor all along.

My advice is to maximize sleep and recovery. You’re about 1-2 weeks away from your taper, and it can be hard to go from peak training to cutting way back on miles. You might find yourself too energetic at night to sleep. If you’re like me, you might start to feel lazy or want to eat junk food. Just be sure to stay disciplined.

I worry about this too. I have a naturally big chest and wide shoulders, so I don’t want to add too much there. Sage Canaday has a video that discusses when he got serious in the weight room and saw his times get slower due to his heavy chest.

Yep 18 miles this weekend, then 20 next weekend. Then taper down to 12 then 6 then race day.

Keep me updated. I would be down, but like I said I did about 160 nights in hotels last year, so I travel alot. If I'm around that week I would be game.

5 miles this evening.

No idea time, nor pace, and doubt it was very good after 300 goblet squats yesterday.

Legs were quite tired.

9 miles tonight. One of my favorite pairs of shoes started rubbing the inside of my arch really bad and kinda ruined the run.

I was on pace for a pretty darn good run and stopped to assess and forgot to stop my watch. Had a bunch of sub 8 miles and a 9:30 in the middle of it.

Going to feel that in the morning.
