I can’t get this run out of my head. It was bad.

I’m thinking maybe it was a combination of things, especially fueling. Only consumed about 200 calories the 16 hours before the run

This may be my goal at RnR, if I decide to make that my next race effort. Tempted to try a 50k in Alabama a few weeks after it, so won't race it if I do

5 days till race day (Disney marathon) and again it’s confirmed...people who hate tapers are just weird.

God I love all this extra sleep and time on my hands.

It’s the week post race I hate!!!

Dafuq. I am terrible about nutrition and I know that’s horrible.

That sucks hb, looks like that last mile mighta hurt. Of course you’ll be back on your next run. Don’t sweat it.

Last speed workout till race day and I ain’t complaining.

.5 WU
4@10K pace w/400m jogging rest (7:12, 7:06, 7:06, 7:10)
.5 CD

Followed up with some walking lunges, high knees and butt kicks on the way in.
Foam rollin’ & lacrosse ballin’ once I got home.
Legs good and pumped.

Dipped below 140# today for the first time since High School I guess. Crazy; everyone telling me I look sick, haha. Mentioned before, but I was 162# in May when I really started focusing on running. Spent decades building muscle and now it’s evaporating into thin air.

Mm I’ve done a lot of intermittent fasting before runs before and typically feel fine. I think the faster pace without fuel is what got me. Probably would have been fine if just a steady 7:30 pace.

Ok I just signed the paperwork...I've joined a gym.

But what should I do for weight lifting while simultaneously running 6 days a week and building miles? I've lifted heavy in the past, so I don't think that shooting for a 350 pound bench press again would be good.

What do you all recommend?

My weight lifting goals are to get 1) stronger to prevent injuries, 2) gain power for increased speed, and 3) shed more fat and have a better physique.

Nope, felt like trash today

Preach. Got the not so rare around here head wind in every direction. May not look like it but I struggled today. Wind and those flat assed zoomfly ones.

You sure are moving quick for rest week.

I do know what you mean about headwind in every direction. I never feel like i get the benefit of wind to my back most runs.

I was hoping for a nice light run today but my friend had other plans while our kids were at practice. Calf is pretty tender from sprinting.

There’s a lot of information in that and no beat way to approach IMO

Are you mostly trying to focus on lower body and core? Any upper body? Shoulders?

I think there’s a couple ways to approach a down week. Significantly drop the mileage but keep a speed workout. Drop the miles by about 20-30 percent and drop your quick runs. Both are good options for recovery IMO.

I try to take special notice when I have a tail wind every run so that I don’t get discouraged but for the last month and a half, the wind has been relentless.

Had several workouts and two races that were significantly impacted because we can’t get a break in the weather up here.

Garmin said that half had 15mph NW wind; figured that cost me at least a minute or two.

Anyhow, enough of my petty bitchin. That Strava group is really starting to kick some arse. If it gets big enough we may have to put on our own event.

Sorry to hear that on the weather. We’ve had a pretty mild winter so far so most runs haven’t been impacted. There’s only one day that I looked outside and it was 35 and driving rain and went to bed instead.

If I’m ever in any of your neck of the woods, I’d love to get together.

I’m honestly surprised I’m the only Texan runner in the group. We have enough LSU transplants here that I’d thought we’d have one in there.

First post injury recovery run of 2019 is a 3 mile jog with the dog, followed by foam rolling and ice. Baby steps.

Did 4.5 miles yesterday through Pima Canyon in Phoenix. I'm enjoying these trail runs more and more.

If the pictures are to much, just let me know. I spent 160 days in hotels last year, so I stop and take alot. But I know it can probably be annoying to others.

haha. Just don't be the guy that runs the strip at 6am while people are still stumbling around drunk walking out seeing sunlight for the first time in 12 hours.

was that guy last year. but it was 5 AM.

i saw a young woman with no pants leave the Luxor, stumble across the sidewalk, cross the strip barricade. jog in a wobbly line across the strip, and then jump over the barricade on the other side and carried on with her morning. i had a lot of questions, but just made sure she didn't die and kept running.

is it uncouth to run the strip in the morning? i always thought that was an iconic thing we were supposed to do.
