Sorry bud. DNFs are better than injuries.

Looks like Burt had a decent day.

That’s a damn good time. Curious to see what his thoughts are. He went out hella fast at the start.

Just did my likely last run of the year. 4 miler. 10th state of the year as well. Official state list:
Louisiana
New York
California
Alabama
Florida
Nevada
Utah
Nebraska
Indiana
Texas
And a few Italy runs as well.
Can we hit all the continental US together? What do y’all have? Any foreign countries?

Yeah. His time was fantastic but I’m sure that first mile wasn’t what he had planned.

Sup guys! 13.1 was 1:23:22 race was 124 something.
Yeah, first mile was quick but I don’t think it really hurt me too bad. Around mile three my entire mid section seized up. It was like a side stitch but basically from tits to dick. (Sig worthy right there) I seriously was going to drop out at the finish of lap 2 because I couldn’t get enough breath and it hurt so bad.
All in all not bad for my first road half. Wind chill was like 13 and there was no hiding from it.
I’m done until an 8k in February. Thanks guys for the support; best fricking run group on Strava! Period.

Great job Burt. Definitly the fastest half time posted in our group this year. What shoes did you run in?

Thanks!
Zoom Fly Flyknit.
BTW I think I might have finished 5th overall and I think the winner ran a 1:13
. Don't know how long until the officials are up.

Time for you to find a full now

Good job Burt. Rained on and off at my house all morning so wasn't able to get my long run in this morning. So now I just finished smoking some ribs and now drinking beer and smoking some wings.

Thanks man. Sucks about the weather but you'll make it up. Wish I was having some ribs but the only thing I know how to smoke is cigarettes.
Wife is going to make me some "satanic eggs" but other than that, I'm stuck with leftovers.

Are 30lb overweight smokers who ran maybe 20 times in 2018 allowed to post in here? (according to Strava I ran/hiked 46 times in 2018)
I have never been a "runner" but have off and on over the last 10 years had 6 month spurts of consistent activity. Those have been the most productive and happiest times in my life. A few years back I ran 4 half marathons over a 6 month stretch and an unofficial/unplanned marathon.
After several years now of complacency and dissatisfaction I have decided to get back on the one horse that has always treated me well.
The goal is to get back in the habit of running consistently week in and week out. To give me a deadline and something to shoot for in the short term I will be running a 50k in the spring, right now the Monument Valley Ultra is at the top of the list. That will force me to put in weekly activity and steadily increase my mileage and pace. (the only time goal I will be shooting for as of now is whatever the 50k equivalent is of a 2:00 half, so 4:30-ish?)
This is the first week I have run more than once since the summer. Monday I put in 7.0 miles (around 1:50) on a loop around a bird wildlife preserve, around 20 vehicles of tourists drove by and gave me some odd looks, I guess they were not expecting an elephant hoofing down the side of the road at a bird preserve). Wednesday I did 2 laps on a 3.11 mi mountain bike track on the Mescalero Escarpment. First time on a mtb track, it was not much elevation gain overall but constant up and downs, twists and turns. With thunderstorms in every direction on the horizon it was quite the visual experience. Tonight I did not get a chance to run until close to sunset so no trail running, did a 3.0 mile loop in town, with the weather at 25 degrees. First time I have ever run with a beanie and gloves, definitely got some funny looks from the cars passing by.
Tomorrow I am going to put in 9 mi somewhere to give me 25 mi for the week, either 3 laps at the mtb track or a desert/canyon rim run.
Not concerned with pace now, and likely won't even give it two thoughts until February. The goal now is to increase total mileage each week (this week will be 25), increase long run (this week will be 9), and spend as much time as possible running in the desert and mountains rather than roads.
Oh yeah, I'll be cutting out the smokes too starting Monday or Tuesday.
*My mileage and times were fricked the last 2 runs because I inadvertently had battery saver on and Strava broke down.
** Congrats Burt Reynolds. I can't imagine running a 1:23 half, that is flying.

Late to the game on this thread but figured Id start to join in now...better late than never.
Last 16 LSD today for the Disney Marathon on January 12. Im usually ready for the training to be over by the point and this time around is no different. At least "it's only 16".
