I’m responding to the thread not you HB, and I’m truly not trying to be a dick but (I’m sure I’ll power through), I’ll consider buying a pair of 4% when the majority of people beating me in races are wearing them or once I get to my physical limit training wise.

This year I’ve done about 10 races, not a single person that beat me wore a pair 4s.

I’d change my tune if I could get 250 dollars worth of miles out of em.

Thanks! I'm glad someone is.

I just want to get it over with and take my 3 weeks off.

Weather doesn't look too bad wind/rain wise eh?

3 week break consisting of no running at all?

I found this downloadable spreadsheet on LR.COM. It's pretty damn neat if you are a data nut/use Daniels calculators. Loads of info much of which I don't understand but alot of useful stuff as well.

Yeah, looks good tomorrow. The three week rest will be that 4 day 30-45 with one 60-70 I was talking about earlier.

I'm not really burned out on running; it's the holiday shite I'm tired of.

Body does need a break though.

Good luck this weekend man. Your schedule has been crazy so I hope it pays off.

Started serious trail training today. Time to drop some weight and get my endurance back up.

7 miles. Did a set of muddy trails I wasn’t as familiar with and hit some flooded timber in the dark that slowed me way down. Last half felt great and was able to keep it under 9 which is winning when it comes to trails.

Speaking of holidays, I was 180 on the scales when I got up this morning. Haven’t seen that number in months...time to put down the desserts

Yeah sorry, I've been a real baby back bitch lately. I shouldn't be pissing on people's parades.

@ HB

It all started with Hanukkah on the fuggin 2nd this year so I feel you there. We do both so it's been a month of eating garbage.

@ 3 Thanks man! and good luck on ramping it up.

I was up to 176 at one point this break. That’s about a 10 lb gain over where I’ve been during the most of my running time.

Looking to be at 160-165 for my race in February.

I’m also giving up “dip” in January as well. I haven’t touched Copenhagen in 2 years but I’ve been cheating with camel snus and I promised my kid I would quit a few months ago. It’s a stupid stupid habit and I’m embarrassed about it.

I used to dip like a wild man. Gave it up about 8 years ago. It’s hard to quit, but you’ll be glad you did. I haven’t looked back, can’t even smell it anymore.

Good thing for me on the 4% is they don’t even make them in giant guy sizes (15). So no temptation for me. They know I’d tear through that foam in one run The zoom fly have been a great show for me. I picked up a second pair of the first gen on eBay for $50. You can get them dirt cheap right now for anyone interested.

I’ve got some work to do on the ol’ diet myself. I let loose for a few days this year, not as much as usual, but definitely up in weight. I’m going to try to cut for a week or so before I check back with the scale.

Nah, not at all. Everyone decides what works for them and what is worth it. Just kill the half

These series of thunderstorms are really going to mess my running schedule up. Not sure when or if I'll even get a long run in this week. Might be a blessing since I'm experiencing some leg fatigue.

This is my second week of actual strength training. A bit tough running through the soreness, but hoping it makes my runs more enjoyable down the road. My shoulders, traps, and hamstrings feel like absolute dog mush by the end of my long runs. Definitely throws me off my game.

Messed mine up but Xmas did too. I got in my treadmill workout today.

1 Mile @8' pace

20 leg squats w/weights
30 lunges w/weights
30 box jumps/side box jumps/step up jumps rotating sets

x9

This is why I like to mix in strength training with runs for a workout. It helps me a lot.

Going to try to do something similar tomorrow if the thunderstorms hold out, but at a 7:20 pace. Pretty excited since it's been several weeks since I've ran anything similar.

You seem to be consistantly hitting all the goals in your training. Is your coach using any heart rate monitoring to determine your progression and factor into your schedule?

Yeah dodging weather this weekend will suck as well. Between that and work, my long run is at jeopardy also.

Not only that but this ruptured vastus lateralus (quad muscle) that I’ve had for 15+ years may be starting to rear it’s head. Experiencing some sharp knee pain here recently. Not advisable but I am going to try to keep pushing through it and also keep strengthening the area.

I’m going to go see a Sports Med Ortho after the 1st. I was told originally that the scar tissue would heal back up to about 90% of the “before” usage. I was in the middle of a semester at LSU at the time and didn’t wanna go through surgery, etc. Obviously I probably should have.

I’ve always done heavy leg lifting etc through the years with zero issues... until now...maybe...shite

Wednesday was pretty rough, my calves were super sore. Thankfully it called for an easy pace because there’s no way I could have hit 7:00 again that day

I’ve been sending him some heart rate data unsolicited, so hopefully he’s been using it
I know he jacked my paces up a bunch week 3 so he must have noticed my HR wasn’t getting up

Race today was a fail. I switched to the 10 miler bc not in 5k race shape. But felt the hip flexor strain in warm ups. Tried to race but just kept getting worse so dropped out at just over 2 mile mark and headed back. Its a few weeks of cross training for me.
