I'm thinking of getting into it. Speedos are off the table but I don't want to show up looking like a goofball in board shorts either.

Jammer and a drag suit.

Swimming is hard enough … just the same trunks you’d wear to the beach.

That drag makes it a lot harder

Indoor or outdoor pool? If outdoor, jammers will give you the “cigarette legs” tan.
Swimoutlet.com is your friend. Many different styles and brands at various prices.
Whatever you get, rinse them out with fresh water after each use and hang to dry. Never put them in the washer or dryer.

Yea, I recently switched to a shorter box cut trunk . I have casual shorts that are shorter than jammers and I didn't like having white thighs showing. But plenty of guys in my swim group sport the speedo.....usually the younger guys.

The quad length speedos.

If you don’t want to wear a jammer, there’s a trunk made by a company called Warchol called Sea Tog. I find these trunks to be low drag compared to any other swim trunks or board shorts. I wear them when I swim open water or snorkel on trips. They only sell on Etsy now, but they are legit.
