Y’all ever hit a hard plateau? And what did you do to fix it?

Keto for 2.5 weeks.
5% calories carbs (under 30g, try to do below 20g).
70% fat- although it will dip into the 60s some days.
Balance Protein- about 25% say. plus or minus

2000-2200 calories/day. 235lbs. Moderate exercise- Peloton 20-30 minutes/day. Halfway active for work. Lift weights moderately on weekends.

GKI has been as low as 4.5 and high as 7 lately- still in moderate ketosis (I bought a Keto Mojo meter)

Problem is- I lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks and it’s like I’ve hit a wall the last 5 days. No movement. But still for sure in Ketosis.

Any suggestions? Today, I am going to try to cut the carbs way back to less than 20.

First thing regardless of what diet or eating lifestyle you do, weight loss and fat loss is not a linear progression

There are times you will stop and even gain some of it back

You need to start tracking calories burned, at the end of the day it’s cals burned vs cals in 2200 could possibly still be around a maintenance not a cut with what you are outputting for exercise. Keto isn’t some magic thing if you are not in a deficit you will still hit a wall after the initial weight loss happens.

Mostly water and glycogen. Stop worrying about tracking carbs, fats, etc. you’re worrying about everything but what’s important for fat loss, and that’s calories.

ETA: the margin of error is higher on high fat diets imo. Fat is 9 calories per gram vs 4 for the others. Not being precise on butter/oil, weights of avocados, marbling of steaks, etc. could be the difference between being in a calorie deficit or not

You haven't plateaued at 2 weeks... You will get to a point where you will lose/flatten/lose/flatten. The real plateau comes after a year or so when nothing seems to work.

Sounds like you are worried about some stupid shite and not enough about the total calories and protein in grams.

Yea... hate to break this to you but 5 days without weight loss is not a plateau and sure as hell isnt a hard plateau. Are you under the assumption that it would be daily or every other day, because it doesnt work like that.

as far as what to do, well we got to get your OCD having arse to relax a little. How do we do that.

No stepping on the scale for two weeks, after that only weekly. Needs to be in the morning after your morning piss. Sunday or monday usually works best.

Understand ketosis doesnt do shite for body fat loss. zero, zilch, nada. Its all about calories and protein.

These next two weeks, pick your caloric limit, lets say
2200 so we have more room to go down. We need to hit that target or within 50 cals one way or the other.

-hit caloric target
-weigh everything, including your oils/butter
-get your protein up to 150g a day
-carbs at 20 or less
- rest from fat

- lets slow down on the damn peloton to only twice weekly and lift weights in a progressive fashion(think greyskull lp, ketogains 5x5, 531, kinobody, etc) 3 days a week.

do this and weigh after two weeks. We should be seeing between 2-4 lbs of weigth loss. If we are less, lower calories to 2000, keep protein the same and repeat the 2 weeks again. If its more than 4 lbs, add 10g carbs for every extra pound and repeat expierement.

keto, iifym, carnivore etc.....we all preach the same thing here

-Be in a Caloric Deficiet some where between 250-500 calories

- Be viligiant on your tracking

- Hit your protein goals

- Lift heavy in a progressive manner 2-3 times weekly

- Hit the cardio 2-3 times weekly but do not over do it.

- Chase Results not ketones

Check out the great Thomas DeLauer - he has a video on everything and is the most knowledgeable keto mind on the planet. I’ve been Keto AF for 14 or so months and I’ve never felt better and am performing like never before workout wise. Literally have not exceeded 50 carbs in a day since last January

Sure as frick not a quake like Thomas. Nothing special about keto, if you like it and it helps you stay consistent, do it.

I suggest you follow Layne Norton and read fatloss forever specifically the keto Cheshire by Dom Dagestino

Some other great keto specific guys would be Luis Villasenor of ketogains and menno henselmans of bayesian bodybuilding

It's sad, after all these years and all these studies, any post that says keto is not special and Doesn't burn bodyfat any faster once calories and protein are equated... is downvoted like crazy.

Being fat adapted is what is king for me more so than Keto. I just refer to it as “keto” so others know what I’m talking about. Being able to fast for 20 hours then have a killer cardio workout is where my payoff is these days

I had the same issue. Technically you can eat dairy on keto but psychology I couldn’t handle it. I would put cream in every coffee, and every meal would be covered in cheese. I strictly eat red meat, chicken, eggs, avocados and macadamia nuts. I took the tips from this board to make sure I hit 150g of protein and I typically hit that number before I hit my caloric goal, at which point I am usually to nauseas to consume anymore food for the day. I’ve been losing about 5 pounds a week.

If you lot have been watching Stanley tucci’s excellent “Searching for Italy” series, he has one in Milan and it’s perhaps my favorite

This system may not work for you. The body needs enough protein, fats, and carbohydrates. Instead of simple carbohydrates, you need complex carbohydrates, which give you more energy. How are you feeling now?

Really bro, you gonna make me defend keto? Really?

Show me where and why you need carbs? Hint you can't.

Please show me where simple carbs provide less energy than complex carbs. Hint they are both 4 calories per gram which is a direct is measurement of that.

Keto is fine if that's the way he wants to do things.

A) bodyfst loss comes from being a deficit no matter the diet

B) 5 days is not a fricking plateau much less a hard plateau

C) keto is perfectly fine. There is no system to it. It simple involves eating in a deficit. He should do keto if it allows him to remain compliant. He should switch to something else if he has trouble staying compliant on keto.

Keto eating, concentrating on protein. Lift heavy and eat steak. If you don't lean out there is something wrong with you. Weight may go up but waist will go down.

it is that simple.
