I'd say this is the first time its happened to me, never happened to me when I was younger playing sports. Pulled it doing overhead DB split squad jumps in the middle of an Athlean X AX2 challenge and had to cut it short.

Could barely walk back to my car, now I am at home, what's the best way to allow this to heal. Sucks because I had things to do today such as go to the grocery store

Just like every muscle pull - rest and ice first, then heat and mobility later.

See if Squat University has anything on this.

I tore my groin July 3rd Sprinting (came out of nowhere by the way... no prior tightness) and his rehab has been in point. Feeling stronger everyday.

Ice, heat, rest and ibuprofen. Do some light stretching. Give it time.

If it's that bad it's worth looking into physical therapy. I pulled mine really bad in college and had to do about a month

Not the first few days. He needs to straight RICE.

Then do light isometric stuff, and then he can maybe progress to light stretching if he feels decent. Then work more mobility and finally start adding light explosiveness back in.

I’m not a PT though.

Red LED pads are a game changer on hamstrings. Watch YouTube. I own 2.

I am almost 50, I have pulled my left hamstring twice in the last three years. The last time is was bad. Nothing helped but rest and time and ibuprofen. I will never get in a rundown at my kids practice...ever again.

When it feels like it’s healed, it isn’t. Rest another week.

One time I thought I had pulled my hamstring and it turns out it was just a really really bad cramp. Still, couldn't move my leg for a couple of hours.

Good luck. It took me nearly a year to get over a bad one.

Hold a pair of dumbbells over your head and alternate split squats

The times I did this (and luckily got away with it) I was always worried to death about the possibility of it happening.

I was the fastest dad (faint praise? like being the classiest Arkansan?) associated with one of the little füt’s teams and out ran all the little snots until they were ~15 years old.

I retired undefeated when a couple of them started to get close to besting me.

OP: Stretching my hammies thoroughly before every run has so far kept me off the Disabled List.

I thought someone had shot me in the back of my leg.

I tried to be cool and walk it off. That was a bad idea as well

I pulled my right hamstring a couple months ago. Racing my freshman son in the 100.. I had him for 85 yards.. that 86th one got me..
