Get a 45lb bar and tape a couple of oars on the ends.

Just don't drop the bar into the water.

If you're doing it right, it's also a nice shoulder and core workout too.

Itll work your core, shoulders, and legs too if you do some real miles.

I can notice my arms are much stronger after oaring my drift boat the last 2 months.

Why not use a 35lb bar and just tape a couple of 5s on the ends?

I'm assuming bracing and moving. I know the first couple of times I kayaked, I was blown away how much of a full body workout it was.
