I just hit a big weight loss milestone UPDATE

Update: down to 155ish!
Feeling pretty good about myself right now. As of this morning I'm down 20 lbs since last January. 186 to 166. I'm guessing I was 25-30% bodyfat when I started. I have visible abs in the morning now. I have about 10 lbs to go before I hit my goal weight. Was wearing 36" waist jeans when I started. In 30" waist jeans today. There's been a lot of ups and downs in the last year and a half. I got down to about 160 at one point but then ballooned back up to 175 or so.
I didn't do any crash diets. Just made sustainable habit/lifestyle changes. The biggest were significantly cutting back on alcohol, not snacking between meals, and limiting sugar intake. I also started TRT in December of '22. Before that when I'd lose weight my gut would stay the same size and my arms/legs would just get smaller. It was a huge kick to my motivation when I started noticing I was making gains in the gym again. I can also recover from physical activity a lot quicker so I'm able to do more in the gym and add more running/hiking/cycling to my weekends.
Reading about other folks' fitness challenges/successes on this board has been a huge help. Thanks y'all.
I think I'm going to eat a pizza and a pint of blue bell this weekend to celebrate.
ETA: looking back at MFP data I guess I'm kind of fixing the stats. If I change up the time frame I'm measuring I've also gained weight
. It's trending in the right direction, though.

Great job!, I'm jelly, but really ...GREAT JOB! I haven't lost any weight, but I'm going to get a pizza and some ice cream to celebrate with you.

Are you a short baw? 36" waist jeans and 25-30% bodyfat at 186 lbs. sounds crazy to me.
But great job. I'm jealous. I'm trying to restart my cut. I plateaued after Spring break (but haven't really gained much weight back).

Great discipline regardless. Like I said, I'm jealous.

Congrats on the success!
Cutting alcohol was the thing that allowed me to shred enough weight to see my abs.
Hanging leg raises with 25# db between my feet was the other!

Checking in.....
Good job. I was pretty similar to you. I probably topped out close to 200 at one point during the Covid daily drinking. I was hovering around 190 when I started actively trying to lose weight. I got down to mid 150s at some point, but was skinny fat. Started lifting again and aiming for more protein and have settled in around 180, but still wearing 32 waist pants and it isn't a struggle to get them on. I'm actually carrying more weight through my chest and shoulders/arms now, instead of just an extra 15 around my waist. Do two leg days a week and watch the fat start to go away.

Good job...be proud of yourself.
Amazing how much a few beers a few times a week can add on the weight and the belly.

It really adds up in the winter when I'm sitting on my arse a lot more. Right now I've been drinking beer on the weekend but it's while I'm playing pickleball, soccer, etc.

Congrats man
Getting in shape is fun. Did you keep a pair of old size 36" pants around? Put them on sometimes just to remind yourself of your past

I should have them somewhere. I'll try to remember to get a pic this evening. It's pretty comical.

Congratulations. What is TRT? If it is testosterone replacement therapy i would hope you are under a doctor's care for that.

I’m still
at 186 and 36” pants.
I’m not the tallest dude but I bounce around 195-200 and wear 32s.

Some of us are blessed with a ghetto arse.
I’m 5’7 172 right now, and my 34” shorts/pants are really snug. You could set a Coke can on my glute shelf though.

Juicy AF.
I used to have to wear a waist size or two up so pants would fit over my arse. Started wearing origin/barbell apparel jeans and don't have that problem anymore.

I’ve been wearing 38” pants as long as I can remember but saved a bunch of 36” shorts because I was optimistic. I’ve been sporting them around this morning and they fit comfortably. Probably because I’m dehydrated from being at the beach all week but WGAF. My wife thinks I’m nuts.
It’ll be interesting to see if I gain some back when I get back to my routine on Monday.
Also, I think there is something to momentum with weight loss as well. Once you start your body wants to continue with the process. I’ve been drinking and eating what I wanted while on vacation but still think I dropped a couple of pounds because my overall calories were probably below maintenance and I was sleeping late every day.

I know what you mean. Once I've been sticking to decent "clean" eating for a couple of weeks I feel like dogshite when I eat a bunch of garbage. I think I've always felt like garbage when eating like that but once I remember what feeling good is like I realize just how bad I was feeling beforehand. Helps keep me on it.

Curious as to what your testosterone levels were when you started getting TRT? Been thinking of TRT for a while now but my levels according to my primary doctor say I’m good.
