I definitely heel strike but after this thread and watching some videos, I am concentrating on mid foot. I guess it will take time to adjust but I can't help but feel like I'm "bouncing" as I run. Very strange but I will keep working on it and see what it yields.

Good for you, but keep in mind that just changing the foot strike isn't the whole story. Most people need to shorten their stride, pull through more, and watch their hips.
Just don't make the mistake of thinking you need to go full forefoot, make the change gradually. You'll shift some stress to your calves/shins/ankles and that might require some development.

Don't try to strike mid foot on every run. Changing to a mid foot strike puts more stress on the tibia and fibula and can easily lead to a stress fracture. I always tell people to think of it as a years transition time with a slow build up.

I always land on my toes. My heel hardly ever touches the ground.
Is this bad?
I figured it was great for sprinting, long distances not so much

The IT band issue is something I often see in heel strikers.
Been working on my form this week trying to change my strike. I have to constantly monitor it or else I fall back. Like the OP stated, I have increased my speed, but the biggest difference is my IT Band. It hasn’t bothered me nearly as much.
Thanks for posting.

I’ve been told/read that changing your natural footstrike can hurt more than help.

It can, lol. Running "science" is mostly nonsense. If you're not injury prone, changing your strike could cause issues. Not saying no one should change their form/strike/cadence, but take any running advise with a grain of salt.
I still remember not that long ago (the 90s) that everyone was saying heel striking was the most efficient and injury adverse way to run. It was "science" back then too.
The main takeaway should be that your stride, regardless of strike should never extend past your knee which would be the definition of over striding. At the point of over-extension (calve extending beyond the knee), a heel strike is almost unavoidable but is a symptom not a cause of over-extension.
