Home gym recommendations for me

I have a 20x20 insulated metal building fully wired, etc., that I use solely as my office with plenty of room to spare. My wife already has a treadmill there, and I'm looking to get a weight/resistance training set.
I'm not fat- 6'1" 190 pounds- and I'll lose weight during the summer due to my work and easily get down to 180'ish, but I want to tone up since I've started offroad running on our land. (The midsection seems more susceptible to packing on the inches alot easier nowadays.)
I'm not a total newbie to weight training. I played sports and lifted every day because of it, but with that said, what weight/resistance training setup would you recommend a starting person like me to purchase without breaking the bank and going full-blown "gear queer newbie"? I guess I would say my budget could be $1000, but "more with less" is always great, and I'm not opposed to spending a good bit more- just not thousands more.
Joining a gym is not an option or interest right now due to time constraints and lack of options, but make no mistake, I'm dead set on starting a lifting/cardio regimen to get in optimal shape. I'm not interested in going full "swoll daddy," right now. I also realize that, just like with most other things in life, there's not a "$1000 magic bullet" of a machine that encompasses all of the possible needs that a fitness-minded person has (Or is it?).
I was leaning towards getting a tried and true free weight set with flat/incline bench and barbell set with a leg curl bench attachment, but thought that perhaps some of the single-source resistance/weight lifting units would be better? I just don't know... I don't even really know what to call those things.
What say you?
And thanks in advance for any help and info you can afford me; I really appreciate it.

Some version of a power rack/squat stand, barbell, adjustable bench and weights will give you the most bang for your buck and versatility.
Those 4 things alone are the core of a solid routine that will put on a lot of muscle. You can get all your muscle groups with that for a minimal footprint. Oh, and get horse stall mats so you don't destroy the floor.

I've got a barbell with up to 300 pounds of weights, adjustable bench, squat/bench rack and dumbells that go up to 80 pounds a piece. All for less than 1,000 at Dicks.

weight cage (~500)
flat bench (~100)
Good 28mm barbell (Rogue boneyard) (~100-150)
Set of weights that include 4 45's, 2 25's, 2 10's, 2 5's, 2 2.5's, (~150-200)(used on craigslist)
TRX system or rings (<100)
resistance bands (50)
foam roller (10)
lacrosse ball (5)
horse stall mats from tractor supply (80-150)
I think that's around 1200.
Later on add
sandbags
powerblocks dumbbells
pulley machine
dip bars

I tried to go this route without success. Anything worth a shite was a multi hour drive away. I ditched that plan and found a new 360 lb set including bar on eBay for less than a dollar a pound with free shipping. Not Rogue quality but good enough for my needs.

On the topic of working out at home, any recommendations on resistance bands and home workouts/stretching routines? I'm looking to incorporate more stretching into my daily routine.

save the money and just go get a gym membership, its easier and you will be more motivated to go because of the social aspect of being around other people

quote:it's usually not quality. It's usually size and weight that is the issue. I have 2 45lb Caps that came from dicks. Very different diameter than my standard plates. I only use them as the last plates.

EliteFTS has a sale on their bands right now. They’re one of the top recommended brands for bands.
