I need answers to my health and can’t seem to find them.

I’ve had debilitating brain fog for nearly 12 years. I literally woke up one morning and my life was changed and hasn’t been the same since. I was up late the night before drinking energy drinks and alcohol and wonder if I messed up my brain. I’ve been to countless doctors and my blood work is always fine.

Symptoms include: feeling disconnected and spaced out, difficulty concentrating and focusing, poor memory, speech not as fluent, light sensitivity, tired all the time, poor sleep - I’m just not myself anymore and mentally am a different person. My symptoms are strictly mental and not physical as I’m able to occasionally workout and do things. I don’t have any physical pain.

I’ve had a brain MRI and EEG done - all normal. I’ve had a sleep study done - normal. I’ve had T levels checked - normal. Thyroid - normal.

Doctors have continuously had no answers. They usually take the lazy diagnosis of anxiety since they can't find anything else but I'm not sold on it given how sudden my symptoms began. I've tried SSRIs and they don't seem to help much either.

Any advice is appreciated...

You probably associate this event with your symptoms starting but it most likely was not acutely offset like this.

I would try mindfulness, meditation, breathing exercises and look into guys like Andrew Huberman who have had experts on on brain training.

Do you currently take medication of any type and if so, what?

You remember the exact day? Was this something you had to look back on or did you know immediately? That's really interesting.

Did you experience anything traumatic psychologically that night other than just drinking? You didn't hit your head? No signs of stroke or other brain bleeds, I'm assuming?

I would definitely look into mindfulness. Possibly Wim Hoff as well. A therapist might also be able to help.

What is your diet and exercise regime like?

So many things can be fixed with these two things alone.

I do not take any medication currently. I have tried some SSRIs in the past.

KoozieKing, yes - I remember the exact morning I woke up with it and the night before. Nothing traumatic happened that I can remember. I was in high school at the time.

I really do not think mindfullness could help alleviate these symptoms. I truly feel like I have something physically wrong with me.

tenderfoot tigah - my diet isn't that great but I do lift heavy a couple times a week

Plenty of studies that show that things like mindfulness can make measurable changes in your brain function

I have no doubt that I have anxiety but I feel like it’s because of my condition not causing it.

If doctors say nothing is wrong with you physically but feels physical it could be some mental distress causing the physical manifestation. Or it could be diet as you said energy drinks and alcohol. Alcohol is obviously bad for you and a lot of the energy drinks are at least questionable if not bad for your health. Brain fog can easily be caused by diet. It could also be caused by stress.

So I would think about whether you have a disharmony with where your life is going. I would also consider adding a water fast day into your 14 day schedule. Something to give you a hard reset, and then go with a diet of unprocessed natural food, that is meats, fats, vegetables, no grains. Even just a straight carnivore diet if you can wrap your mind around doing it. I believe that will clear your mind and with the mindfulness exercises you will be aces. Nothing will work overnight, but after three months is when things seem to feel noticeably different imo.

I’m starting paleo come the new year. Also thinking about taking the neurolink supplement. Thoughts?

That is very good for videos showing the effects of food on the body. Like watch your omega 6s big time, seed oils are heavy in those.

I'm sure neurolink is fine. If you believe it is your cure all I would definitely take it because positive thinking is a huge bonus. But what I'd really do instead is I'd get a multivitamin, a B multivitamin, a trace minerals, selenium/vitamin e, D+K with iodine, C, and fish oil (if you want). You can also get Gaba too since it's in neurolink. You can also get other supplements that you feel fit your ailments or would help boost you even further. If you think you can find a multi that has all those vitamins in good doses or you can find high quality enough food then go for it, but this seems better/safer to me.

It is inflammation. Have your markers checked and use that as a baseline. Start researching diets that reduce inflammation.

Of course find a good quality one. I think Life Extension brand is good quality to price one. If I'm wrong someone correct me. I'm sure there are better ones but price on some of those can get pretty high. If you are taking a multivitamin plus these others I don't think you need to go over the recommended doses. And make sure you are drinking a good amount of water to keep your system flushed.

I use others for different things like gaba and fish oil. I really loved dymatize's gaba but they quit making it, I don't know if it was actually super effective or I was just younger

Recommend starting Magnesium Threonate, must be Threonate.

Good suggestions elsewhere in this thread, so this is my only recommendation

I had the exact same thing 5ish years ago, which also coincided with drinking and abuse of caffeine oddly. I made a lot of lifestyle changes and mine went away, it was terrifying and absolutely sucked but it did go away. Mine started to improve immensely when I got Covid and started taking Emergen-c immune plus every day. Not sure if I had a zinc deficiency or something but maybe that’s a place to start for you
