Help me out on when to eat....

I’ve been intermittent fasting for a while now, but I lift in the am. Should I eat immediately after lifting or does it matter?
I typically don’t eat from 8pm to 11:30 am. Is this wrong if I’m lifting at 7am? Tia

It's not wrong IMO but it's probably more ideal to eat your largest meal of the day within an hour after lifting. But if that doesn't work for your schedule I wouldn't worry about it. Adherence over time is more important.

Thanks, I’m usually not hungry after I workout but by the time lunch rolls around I’m starving. It’s definitely my largest meal of the day

It's honestly such a personal preference thing. In general, intermittent fasting is a proven tool to help you reach your goals, but I wouldn't waste too much energy looking into it. IF is not the end all be all when it comes to a fitness program and certainly won't make or break you when it comes down to the details.

I follow the same schedule. If I can wait until 12 or 1 to eat, I do. Today I ate at 11. As long as you meet your daily needs, I wouldn’t stress too much over when you eat as long as you don’t let yourself get so hungry you can’t function.

You dont have to eat right after lifting but think about what youre doing to your muscles when you lift and why eating or drinking supplements right after would be a good thing.
youre literally ripping and tearing your muscles when you lift and in order for them to correctly repair themselves, they need nutrients. You should always intake some sore of nutrients directly after a workout.
If youre going to fast, plan your intermittent fasting accordingly. Start the fast after your eat after your workout.

It’s not new...or a “fad diet.”

yeah it is, its the new popular thing that everyone is talking about and trying.
People might have been doing it years ago, but they werent talking about it. And once all the average joes start doing it, like keto...thats when its turned into the new popular fad thing to do.

so you tried it and it didn't work?

no i have not tried it, i am about a balanced, sustainable, healthy diet

Well you can eat a balanced, sustainable, healthy diet while Intermittent Fasting, but it doesn't appear you know that. I can eat the exact same you do but just in an 8 hr window instead of a 12 or 14. Doesn't mean you ate healthy or more balanced than me.
Some people experience a good bit of health benefits from IF so if it works maybe it's not a "Stupid Fad Diet". If my testosterone level goes up, my LDL goes down, HDL rises, and less inflammation on LF vs. eating the same food over 12 hr I call that a win.
Maybe it would be better if you didn't comment on something you aren't very educated on unless your goal is to look ignorant.

New? It's been mainstream since 2011-2012
It's also not a "diet" it's a life style or eating pattern if you will.

I lift/CF at 5:30am. I eat between 11:30 ish and 7:00. I haven't noticed any decline in performance or strength. I have the same gains as I did when I ate at 7am.
I was worried as well at first, but it's been fine. My morning has more to do with "what" I eat as my last meal than "when" I eat my first one. Also, total daily macros matter. If I don't eat "enough" or the wrong types of food then I notice a difference in performance. It really depends if you are wanting to lose weight and be in a caloric deficit or gain weight.
Have you seen a difference in your lifts?

Not really but I haven’t been lifting heavy in a while. I work out alone and am not trying to add bulk. The only time I tend to break IF is when I do legs. I will usually eat an egg white omelette and fruit after doing legs as I feel it makes me less sore. I don’t know if that’s true or not it just feels that way to me.

A) it has been the primary way of eating for most people from the advent of mankind until very recently, so no, it isn't a "fad diet."
And
B) if you think Valter Longo, David Sabatini, Satchin Panda, Jason Fung, and scores of other prominent researchers are stupid, then ok.

If you ate decent diner, your body has all of the nutrients it needs ready after that am training session.
Posted on 8/28/19 at 8:50 am to PT24-7
I eat when hungry. If that's right after the AM workout then so bet it. If hunger sets in around lunch, so bet it. If I'm busy, I'll put eating off until I am able. As long as you're eating the amounts you need you will be fine.
