re: Help losing belly fat
Everything is definitely easier without it. But life is too short for me to worry about it too much. I went 6 months teetotaling and had to try to stay over 170. Now I have to try to stay under 180.

I’ve been doing Avatar Nutrition and lifting heavy for 4 months. I’m 40 and it’s the flattest my stomach has been since puberty.

I dropped from 192 to 155.

Google weight loss calculator, click the first link and get your numbers.

I had a goal of 180 days, which gave me a nice healthy number of 1800 calories per day.

It worked.

I stuck to it, not a day over 1800 calories, and I would rarely go under.

Don't starve yourself like some people do. Set a realistic goal so you can get a calorie amount per day which doesn't put you into depression, because you WILL quit and then you would have been better off taking it slower.

re: Help losing belly fat
Fasted HIIT training in the morning will give you fantastic and quick results.

Edit- That is if you are already lifting and your diet/calorie consumption is already in check.

Short and sweet! It does suck lol. Finding something you enjoy (somewhat) doing is the key. Sled pushes, jumping rope, box jumps, rowing intervals (my favorite), stairmaster intervals, inclined treadmill sprinting, etc.

re: Help losing belly fat
all of the double blind studies say that there is very little difference between keto and a simple iso caloric diet when the deficit is the same. Keto does cause slight increases in thermogensis, as does IF, carb cycling, fat fast etc but the differences are so small its not really noticeable in the long run. BTW having a diet made up almost entirely of protein i.e. psmf has the biggest thermogenic effect.

Agreed. I have been losing for 4 months now. I did Keto the first month and then switched to Flexible dieting (Avatar). There was no difference in weight loss between the two. If it is all about calorie's in vs calories out I just can't understand choosing an overly restrictive diet that eliminates entire food groups.

Fasted HIIT in the morning?

Why not just fasted uphill walking so you don't lose as much muscle?

Yea fasted incline walking or weighted vest walks- are the best middle ground of fat loss and keeping muscle.

I have a 40 lb weight vest. May try to snag a cheap treadmill off craigslist for some morning walking

I’m not a hiit fan at all. Maybe if I had a sled or something, but sprints?

re: Help losing belly fat
To me the choice comes down to adherence.

If I'm eating to lose, I get markedly less hungry on a nearly keto diet, so I'm more likely to adhere. But, if you are miserable without rice, pancakes, etc - you'll probably adhere to isocaloric better.

Also, I absolutely hate the focus on macros that has prevailed lately when micros are ignored. Nutrition matters - and if you are working on body composition constantly, then you are constantly failing. Sure, you can lose weight on Twinkies and chicken breast, but focus on quality, too.

re: Help losing belly fat
I've dropped 13 pounds in the past two months.

20-25 years ago I could eat whatever I wanted. That's no longer the case. The key is budgeting your calories. For example, I don't drink anything except water and unsweet tea. Anything else us wasted calories. I've passed on donuts several times. Again, wasted calories.

I have been to DQ several times. Not the best thing in the world, but as long as I have a smaller breakfast and dinner it works for me. A Mini Blizzard uses up 400-500 of my daily calorie budget (currently 1687).

You can download smartphone apps to keep track of your intake.

There are different types of drinks and sport elastic which helps in burning belly fat.
