Got my lab report:My Total Bilirubin is high

So I was feeling a little weak & sluggish a lot, so I went in and had some blood work done.
I am low on Vitamin D(13.1), Doc prescribed some Vit D.
Total Cholesterol is good(176), triglycerides are good(71).
Total LDLs was a little high(128)
Total HDLs was high(33)
LDL-P was high(1497)
Working on that with weight loss & better diet, need to exercise some more.
Anywho:
Doc showed me my CMP(Comprehensive Metabolic Panel)
Everything looked normal except my Total bilirubin(1.4)
My AST(SGOT) was high at 42
My ALT(SGPT) was good at 50
I don't drink alcohol, quit about 12 years ago(was not a heavy drinker back then, mostly beer).
No jaundice(no yellow eyes or skin).
No drug use.
5'10" white male, was 230lbs, now down to 214lbs late 40s.
What is the OT Docs, dieticians... recommendations to get my bilirubin back to normal?
I have cut out sugars, processed foods, sports drinks, now eating lots of vegetables, some fruits, lost about 16 lbs.
Also, how do I keep a check on my total bilirubin levels without having to get blood work done? I see there are some test strips you can purchase.
Sorry if TL
TIA.
I will hang up and listen.

Good job baw. Go easy on the fruit. Keep it up. Are you exercising as well?

1.4 TBili is a little high. GOT is high, but in isolation means essentially nothing. Obviously, TBili points to liver....I would continue what you are doing and have the TBili rechecked in maybe 3 months. As far as I know there are no POCT bilirubin (serum/blood) tests. You will need to go to lab.

Thanks man.
Roger on the fruit.
Not much other than yard work and lift some light weights at home.

You mean HDLs were LOW.
You want those at or above 58 and have your ratio above 3.0 toward 3.5 ideally.

Lots of sugar in fruit, moderation lol.
Good deal. It's a lot easier to shed fat when you have muscle.

You're in a good position to experiment w fructose metabolism amd liver markers. Cut out all fructose of any sort for a month and retest to see how it affects those markers.

Weird with all these Health experts on here that nobody has brought up your liver. You have high bilirubin and elevated liver enzymes. You need to get this in check, get screened for fatty liver disease and continue cutting sugar out of your diet. Glad that your triglycerides are normal, but your HDL is low and LDL is elevated. Look into metabolic syndrome, I dare not suggest that you go on a ketogenic diet because I don't want the eyes to start rolling, but that's a good way to reverse metabolic syndrome and fatty liver disease.

Your HDLs are low, bro.

Your total bilirubin doesn't mean much without it being fractionated into Direct and Indirect Bilirubin. Generally: High indirect = your liver isn't processing the bilirubin. High direct = something is blocking the bilirubin from leaving your liver.
